  • Etch-A-Sketch Art for Creative Kids with ADHD and Autism!

    Funded Jan 23, 2014

In a time where budget cuts in education are reaching an all-time high, Visual Art departments like ours often struggle to purchase materials. This letter is just a small token of our appreciation to you. As a donor, you have made it possible for our class to use a variety of much needed materials.

Your role as a donor is essential. Without you, we could not reach such a board spectrum of topics and materials. Our students have flourished, not only creatively, but with a renewed sense of self confidence.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Leonard

  • Technology, Exercise, And The Art Of Dance

    Funded Mar 8, 2014

As a veteran teacher, I want to always think that I have a solution for every educational challenge that I face. Sometimes its as simple as speaking to a colleague or reading professional literature. In this case, my challenge was to get my students up off their chairs and moving. I can't believe how well this technology has worked. It is a simple video game setup to some people and all it appears to promote is fun. I disagree wholeheartedly because it has made our experience with physical education into a regular routine. Who knew dance could be so powerful for kids. I thank you for allowing the opportunity to bring this new medium of expression and exercise into my classroom.”

    Mrs. Shabani

  • Looking to Learn....

    Funded Jan 31, 2014

I just want to begin by saying thank you. Your donations helped us to receive two digital cameras for classroom use. My students were more than grateful, they were ecstatic. They and I were humbled by the generosity that you have shown. In addition to helping them receive cameras to use for years to come, you set an example for my students on sharing and helping others. Above all I think they were most impressed with how you could help someone you didn't know. What a perfect example of humanity and how to treat others.

My students got right to work using the cameras. We researched the "selfie" in my Introduction to Arts classes and students enjoyed learning about creative and interesting compositions and subjects, and then using the cameras to create their own selfies. They used the photographs to create self-portrait printmakings. They also documented the progress on their projects and the final projects for themselves and for the students to see and use next year as inspiration. Many learned new skills in cropping and editing their pictures. My Introduction classes also used the cameras to capture subjects for their paintings as well. My advanced students used the cameras to document works also and to also create drawings and printmakings from. They would photograph objects and landscapes for references in their projects. And yes my Advanced drawing students also created a self portrait this year in a variety of materials.

Your donations helped my students have the technological resources needed to support their classroom learning. By having these two cameras available, they were able to share and sign out cameras as needed. None of my students felt ashamed that someone else had their own camera or a cell phone to use for imagery, while they didn't. They had something they could use too without waiting. It allowed my students to learn basic photography skills, but also helped them to learn to take care of supplies and responsibility with equipment. It also improved their imagery overall in their projects. They could take home a photo and their project when needed. Your donations helped me encourage my students to grow and succeed in the arts. It allowed me to encourage my students to learn and work with technology in our classroom. Thank you for your compassion and donation.”

  • Drama Is Creativity, Literacy, And Learning

    Funded Feb 3, 2014

I am humbled and grateful that I have been able to connect with great donors like yourselves. I have been doing as much as possible to encourage the arts, dramatic expression, and integrate technology along with it. My students relish the opportunity to become their stories. They gladly volunteer to use the ipad to film and have become expert editors. I hope these experiences, which you have made possible, allow them to explore these skills as possible careers. At the very least, they have shown me a great enthusiasm for the creative process of acting and movie making so that is a huge success already. Thank you for making it all possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Reyes

  • Let's Get Moving!

    Funded Jan 27, 2014

Thank you all for your kind and generous donations! This project is definetly getting us moving and keeping active. My students love to play with a real basketball, football, soccer ball, and kickball; they are even forming teams! Before we only had the rubber handballs and just the diffrence in balls caused excitment. It is so convinient to have a ball inflator in class, we no longer need to put ball away because they ran out of air, and the more ball available to more students are playinig. They have also enjoyed jumping with our new jumpropes and tossing the bean bags into the bean bag toss.

Thank you helping us stay active.”

  • Help To Keep Our Kids Fit!

    Funded Jan 10, 2014

Our students cannot express enough gratitude for the resources and equipment that we have received! With the living situations that my students are in, a lot of them do not have a lot of access to differentiated materials, so when they come to my physical education class it is an entirely different world! My students were the ones who opened the boxes of equipment when we received our shipment and to see their faces light up when we were able to open all of the jump ropes and get them ready for the next week to begin our jump rope unit was very enjoyable.

My students and I use the equipment very often. We just started using the parachute, since we are nearing the end of the school year and the younger kids absolutely enjoy it and even say "This is a great workout!". The jump ropes were a total hit. A lot of my students, even the seventh and eight graders were ecstatic because some of them never knew how to jump rope. It was a very humbling experience to be able to introduce the benefits of jumping rope, not only to my kindergarten students, but also to the 12 and 13 year old students! My students use the jump ropes in a variety of lessons from fitness stations, to relay races, obstacle courses and even during choice day!

My students are eager to learn and continually find out that being healthy and staying physically active does not have to be boring, but in fact it can be rather fun and a very social experience. That is something that I want all of my students to walk away with. I was able to challenge students and allow them to step out of their comfort zone to try new ways to enhance their overall level of fitness through donors like you.

Again, we ALL thank you for your generous donations and are very fortunate to have people and organizations that care for about the well-being of our kids.”

  • Variety Of Outdoor Games Needed For Physical Education

    Funded Mar 9, 2014

I could not be any happier with the donations I have received for my PE program. Both the Bocce Ball Set and the Corn-hole Toss Set has been well received by the students. The students are really enjoying these items for the program. At times they will start asking me for the equipment before I even have a chance to bring them out. Playing a new game they have never seen or heard of before has really made them enjoy PE a little more. Especially Bocce Ball. When I began teaching it to two students during our free time, it quickly turned into eight students playing it at the same time.

We are using the resources during free time when the students can play any sport they want. We are also using the equipment for any students who are not able to run or participate due to injury. If a student can play the sport or do there exercises, we bring out either the Corn-hole toss or Bocce Ball so they will still be active instead of sitting around and not doing anything. And so far it has been a huge success.

It boosted my teaching and students' learning by knowing that these students are up for anything new. They really enjoy trying something new instead of doing the same thing over and over again. It really has opened my eyes to not be afraid of doing something different every once in a while.

Once again, I am very thankful for the donations. Thank you all for donating and making this project a reality.”

  • Teaching Students Nutrition Healthy Living Through Gardening

    Funded Mar 1, 2014

Thank you all for your support for our project. It means to much to our classroom that people are so caring, helpful, and willing to support classrooms and schools. We received the resources (hydrofarms, gardening gloves, and plant seeds) and there was so much excitement in the classroom when we opened them. The students have planted their plants and are learning about healthy living and eating while watching their plants grow. We are now waiting for nice weather so we can transplant the plants to our outdoor garden. The students previously had to wait until the last few weeks of school to work on gardening, now we can enjoy it all year round!

Thank you so much for all of your support and your amazing generosity, we appreciate it so much!”

  • Social Skills Building

    Funded Nov 21, 2013

I cannot fully express my joy, gratitude and thankfulness for you funding my school project. Helping students develop social skills and friendships is something that is near and dear to my heart and I am appreciative that you too recognize the importance of these skills in our children today.

The books and games that you have funded are being used with many students from preschool through fifth grade on a regular basis. The teaching tools will assist me in exploring the different skills required to build friends and stand up to others appropriately.

The students in my social skills groups look forward to learning new skills illustrated in the stories and then practicing the skills through dramatic play revolving around the story. It has been amazing to watch my group of students who initially played by themselves grow to the point that they look forward to seeing their friends in the group and actively seek each other out to play. Recently I informed a group of preschool students that they had completed ten weeks of social skills and we would be taking a break for the holidays. I was overwhelmed at the students disappointment at not seeing each other and instance that they did not want to take a break. It is with the tools that you funded that I will continue work with my students to develop their social skills so that they can look forward to going to school and playing with their friends.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nichols

  • Class Chromebook!

    Funded Mar 9, 2014

My students were completely thrilled when we received a package with a brand new Chrome Book. Since the Chrome Book arrived, my students have had many new opportunities to learn. Thanks to you, I am able to better meet the technology standards required in our school district. My students use the Chrome Book for on-line research, reading and math interventions, reading on-line books, assessments, typing practice, and many more educational programs. In addition, the Chrome Book has allowed me to differentiate my instruction to meet the needs of each student through interest centers, partner work, and small groups. People like you truly make a difference in the lives of students.”
