  • Long Distance Legos for Migrant Kiddos

    Funded May 5, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to help buy Lego sets for the students in our migrant summer program! The kids were so excited to find out that they got to keep the Lego sets. It was a big motivator for them to attend our all online program.

We used the Lego sets in a variety of ways. We had students build a house they wanted to live in, an animal (either real or imaginary), and their own personal masterpiece. We also used them in math and writing activities. They had a lot of fun with the Lego sets, and they were a great way to keep our program fun!

Every day of the program we had a large group Google Meet. Students enjoyed sharing what they made with their Lego sets. Thank you again for donating to this project! You helped make our summer program a success!”

    With gratitude,

  • Building Background With Brilliant Books!

    Funded Mar 29, 2017

Thank you again for donating to help bring these books to our classroom! My students have really enjoyed digging deeper into the topics we are learning about using these books. They are able to check them out from me to read in their regular classroom or at home.

The most popular books have been the "You Choose" books. These books put my students in actual historical situations and allow them choices in how to proceed. For example, in the Oregon Trail book, students have to decide whether to go to a fort to get more supplies or take a short cut. These choices make the books even more engaging and cause my students to think more about the topics.

I am so grateful that you chose to donate to this project and help my students. I know they will continue to enjoy these books for years to come!”

  • Great Graphics, Let's Read!

    Funded Dec 8, 2016

Thank you again for donating to help bring these great graphic novels to my students! They love the new books. The students have already checked out the books multiple times to read in their classrooms and at home.

The artwork in the books is absolutely beautiful, which helps to really draw the kids in. There is also a non-fiction graphic novel about worms that talks about worm poop. That one always brings a big laugh from my kids and has become a favorite.

Thank you so much for supporting my students and supporting public schools. We really appreciate your support!”

  • Hi-Lo, Hi-Lo, It's Off To Read We Go!

    Funded Oct 13, 2015

Thank you so much for donating to this project! My kids absolutely love these books! The books look like other chapter books that their classmates are reading, but they are at my students' reading levels. A lot of the kids really love the Library of Doom books and the Lab of Fear books. They are lot like Goosebumps books. They're too spooky for me, but the kids love them! They also really like the After Happily Ever After books, which tell the story of what happens after many popular fairy tales.

With these new hi-lo books, I've seen an increased excitement about reading among my students. I am so grateful for your help in bringing these books to my classroom!”

  • It's The Little Things

    Funded Dec 19, 2014

Thank you again for donating and helping this project become a reality. My students have been enjoying these materials so much. One of the most popular is the shimmery bingo daubers. I use them with my kindergarten and first graders to practice their phonemic awareness skills. They love seeing how the paint shimmers as it dries. My older students have seen the daubers and are jealous! It is also great to have more stamps and Hot Dots supplies. This allows all my students more opportunities to use them.

The prizes and printable labels are helping me keep my writing badges program going. It has been very motivating for my students. They are even writing for fun at home and then bringing me their writing so they can earn badges and prizes. This would have never happened before I started this program.

I cannot thank you enough for choosing to help my students. We are so grateful for your support!”

  • Give Us a Shot, We'd Love Hot Dots!

    Funded Aug 23, 2014

My students absolutely love the Hot Dots, Jr. pens, cards, and books! Thank you so much for your donations to help buy these supplies! They have been great for helping my kindergarteners learn their letters, sounds, numbers, colors, and shapes. The pens are shaped like a dog, and they cannot believe that the dog knows if they are right or wrong when they touch a dot next to an answer. I have to admit, even I wonder how it works. The dog says various things when a student gets an answer right like, "You got it!" and, "Way to go!" Other times he will bark and the whole pen vibrates. It's always funny seeing the students' reactions the first time that happens. One of my students made me laugh out loud when he pretended it was a phone and answered in Spanish saying, "¡Bueno!" It was pretty funny. The students have so much fun using the Hot Dots supplies, so they don't even realize they are learning.

Thank you again for donating to this project. It means the world to me that you choose to spend your hard earned money to help make a difference in my students' lives!”

  • Poppin' Brains

    Funded Aug 23, 2014

Thank you for helping to bring BrainPop to my students this year! They were so happy to get to watch the videos featuring Tim and Moby again. The videos are a great way to build my students' background knowledge before reading our curriculum's leveled readers together. Not only are they full of great information, they are also funny and entertaining to watch. My students also love taking the quizzes after each video and completing the other associated activities. There are even some games that can help us learn more about the different topics. My third graders got to make their own solar system by adding different sized stars and planets. They were able to see how the gravity between planets affects their orbits. They were shocked when some of their planets ended up smashing into each other after a few orbits.

I cannot thank you enough for choosing to help my students get access to this amazing resource. You have truly made a difference in their learning!”

  • Read at Home! Rah Rah Rah!

    Funded Jul 7, 2014

Thank you so much for helping to buy these MP3 players and audiobooks for my students! They are really enjoying the new books, and having more MP3 players allows more students to be able to take them home more often. My students' parents are so appreciative that their children are able to listen to fluent English reading at home. Not only have the MP3 players allowed my students to practice their reading skills at home, they are also helping them practice being responsible. My students know that getting to take the MP3 players home is very special and they make sure to take care of them so they can continue using them for years to come.

I am so grateful for each and every one of your donations. I feel so honored that you believe in my students. Thank you again!”

  • Pad Our iPads

    Funded Mar 23, 2014

Thank you again for helping bring this project to life! My students were so excited when the new iPad cases and headphones came. Having well protected iPads brings my students and me so much peace of mind. We are able to quickly plug in the new headphones without having to take the cases partially off. Because it's so quick and easy, even my younger students are able to do this on their own. This helps us get started faster and better use the limited time we have together. I am also very thankful for the new headphones. The students don't realize this, but I picked out headphones with volume protection because they often turn up the volume to the max. Not only do these new headphones fit their heads better, they are also helping to protect their hearing.

My students and I are extremely appreciative of the fact that we have such great people out there who support us. We cannot thank you enough!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Morphew

I work with a great group of 32 English Learners in grades K-5. My students speak Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, French, and English. They are working hard to master the skills they need to be successful in life. I love coming to school each day to work with such hard-working students who are so excited to learn. They attend a large school of about 1100 students. We have a great school that has recently been designated by our state as a reward school for our students' high achievement and our work at closing the achievement gap. YOU can help us continue to improve!
