  • Seats for Healthy Hands.

    Funded Jan 8, 2025

Five years ago when I set out to better meet our learners' physical needs in our learning space, I felt it was an audacious dream. Meeting learners of such varying height and size with wiggle and non wiggle needs felt impossible. Now, thanks to you and your generosity, we have a variety of seating meeting the needs of the learners. They now know which seat helps them best fit the space and their needs so that they can be settled productive thinkers.

Yes, we have needed to learn to negotiate and use our words for the seat we need, but they are doing it! I will never know the long term impact on their body, but I know now, they are more comfortable and for that I am forever grateful.”

  • Creation Through a Sublimation Station

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

These past two weeks have been a complete blast with students learning and creating. Their excitement over creating with sublimation has made February so much fun. Their discussions over which output they wanted to create for, precision measuring, learning about safe heat press use and creative expression has been great to see. Many of them made water bottles and are using them creating a buzz around school about how they did it has been wonderous to observe. Thank you for supporting this project.”

  • 3D - Print it, Hold it, Use it!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you very much for your generosity and support of our class. With the PLA plastic for our 3D printer students have been able to try 3D moveable prototyping. Moveable chains, figurines, allegator paper clips and more fun creative adventures were explored. Some were successful creation learning adventures and some great learning adventures of what doesn't work. The importance of measurement was emphasized and changes when scaling were popular on the learning journey. We created a thank you showcasing letters and attempts at making them more than just a letter. We hope you enjoy the pictures and thank you for your support.”

  • Video for Voices

    Funded Sep 1, 2022

Thank you so much for investing in our creativity. Our students have been busy creating segments for our school broadcast and learning stop motion. Because of your generosity students are able to spend more time creating and less time waiting to share. The microphones have made our broadcast sound amazing. We can actually hear the people interview! The 2 new tripods are so easy to use and are helping students learn to set up shots and made stop motions so much easier. This next semester is going to be so exciting as out students continue to create!”

  • Wrists and Wiggles Need Stools

    Funded Dec 15, 2021

No one ever fought over a blue chair. No one negotiated, with evidence, as to why they needed a blue chair. Now, my brilliant minds are swapping, negotiating, and making sure that they have the stool that fits them best. It is amazing to see them advocate for thier learning space.

Watching students find just the right fit and postition so that they can work, move and occationally spin has been a complete joy. Thank you for allowing my students to have this opportunity. We will never know the impact on thier wrists and posture, but for now, I am seeing students that are concenrating and working more joyously in their stool.

Students are talking about them on campus and other teachers are asking about how it is working out, wanting to add them to their rooms. I think you all helped create a trend for our learners. Thank you!”

  • Code + Electronics = AMAZING

    Funded Oct 14, 2021

Thank you so much for your support and our helping students learn coding and electronics. The Arduino kits and their ease of connection to student chromebooks have allowed students to work on a device they are used to, access and save files more easily; consequently they are more productive in class. The simplified nature of these kits and the use of voltage meter allow students to access data about their breadboarded circuit and where problems might be. I look forward to being able to expand this idea for more students to be able to access this valuable addtion to our classroom and thank you for your support.”

  • Let's Get Phyical! Physical Computing for Distance Learners.

    Funded Sep 17, 2020

Thank you once again for your generosity and support during this unique time. To be able to put physical computing and coding in my students hands is an amazing adventure. We are just beginning this adventure. We started with choosing to code for health, safety, cybersecurity or solving cyphers. Students asked amazing questions as they learned to turn the LED's on to report back information, to control light responses and to respond to temperature changes. The logic and problem solving skills they learned in such a short time were incredible. With no one there to see what was going wrong, they were able to get their micro bit connected and the code transferred to it. Thank you again, these will be a learning gift for years to come.”

  • Not Your Grandma's Sampler! Code It!

    Funded Jan 23, 2020

We started learning turtle stitch and code just before we needed to leave our classroom for the safety of distance from each other. This was the student's first assignment from our homes. "Use what you learned and create a repeating pattern." The results were really cool. It reminded me of spirograph, but cooler. We learned that students' codes can be too big and some too small for our machine. I brought the machine to my home so that I could produce the kids work and a few small thank yous to donors. I look forward to a time when I can teach the students to run the machine for themselves. Many in meetings say that they can't wait to get back to campus and use it.

In spite of distance creativity and innovative thoughts thrive in the minds of our students. I live in the hope that they bring to class work everyday.

    Thank you for your generosity.”

  • Yep, I Made It!

    Funded Sep 24, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity and support of our class. Your kindness allowed us to have another outlet for our creativity. We had a few students choose to iron on their designs and have had great feedback that other students would like to create something too. Many of our female students are interested in graphic design and are seeing the products that they can create, and the products that are created using this technology. It was heart - filling to see the kids ideas come to life.

I look forward to a spring where more of them are worn and celebrated.”

  • Let Them Have Pi!

    Funded Feb 28, 2019

Thank you all so much for your generosity and support with beginning our Pi program. Students that engaged with the Pi's used it to code in Python and tested 2 different IDE programs for me. Their learning process inspired them to more learning and also introduced them to official program evaluation. They reflected on their learning process, how the program helped or hindered their learning. Observing them with the Pi's, inspired me to more ways that we can use them, create with them, and grow from here.

I am hopeful for the future of their exploration of computer science and our program.”
