  • Filling the Theater Cabinets

    Funded May 7, 2025

Thank you for all of your donations and matches for this project. It is a wonderful way to celebrate teacher appreciation week. I can't wait to get these items and share them with all of the students. We are starting on our final project today, so the students will be so excited to use these new supplies!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bean

  • Caring for Our Technology

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

Thank you for the donations to our technology project. Half of our iPads were no longer charging just because the cables had died and multiple cases had broken stands so they could no longer stand up. I can’t wait to tell the students that they will get a revamp of their technology!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bean

  • Acting Out Our History

    Funded Mar 22, 2025

Thank you so much for your support. I can’t wait to tell the students their project was funded and that they can start working with all their theater supplies soon. This project will make such a difference in their performance. I am so grateful for all of the support from all their donors.”

  • Learning to Build in Theater

    Funded Jan 15, 2025

Thank you for the support of our project. Our students have been working hard building items for our spring musical. They used the yarn to create a Cousin It costume. They used the paint for the full set design. The cardboard was used to create 2D trees for the actors to hold and dance with. The pvc pipe was used to create fake wrought iron gates. All of these items were designed and created by the students to be used in our show. It was wonderful to see the students' creativity in developing these items into the custom items that were needed in the show.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bean

  • Lights, CAMERA, Action

    Funded Dec 20, 2024

Thank you for the support of our classroom. We have already been able to use the camera numerous times in the classroom to take pictures of our projects and record performances. Most recently, the students had their performances recorded so they could view them afterwards and provide self evaluations. It can be challenging to know how you look while acting, so with a camera we can document it in the classroom. Then students can look back later and see how their performance actually came across to the audience. I can't wait to continue using the camera for performances and evaluation with the students.”

  • Becoming Our Ancestors

    Funded Sep 3, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation to our project. Our students have been hard at work the past few weeks building items in class that they have designed for our musical. Some examples of projects they have been working on include: choosing characters to play in the show that are ancestors in the family, developing hair and makeup choices that are all in white/gray tones to match their characters, use the makeup and wigs to support these designs and fully embody the characters. These projects are wonderfully creative and really encourage students to push their thinking outside of the box on how to complete them. This project could not have been completed without your support and donations. The students have been loving the hands on work of this unit. Thank you.”

  • Creepy, Crawly, Spooky Musical

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation to our project. Our students have been hard at work the past few weeks building items in class that they have designed for our musical. Some examples of projects they have been working on include: building rolling tables and beds with casters, building self standing ghosts from chicken wire, using the shower curtains and tissue paper to make fake stained glass windows. These projects are wonderfully creative and really encourage students to push their thinking outside of the box on how to complete them. This project could not have been completed without your support and donations. The students have been loving the hands on work of this unit. Thank you.”

  • Building a Haunted Musical

    Funded Aug 9, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation to our project. Our students have been hard at work the past few weeks building items in class that they have designed for our musical. Some examples of projects they have been working on include: painting champagne glasses to look like metal goblets, creating a rolling cart that looks like a potion cart, flowers that can be repeatedly removed, a bird that can be flown into the show and removed again, a goose that has been shot with an arrow, a rat that moves across the stage by itself, and so much more. This project could not have been completed without your support and donations. The students have been loving the hands on work of this unit. Thank you.”

  • Building Our Imagination

    Funded Aug 27, 2024

Thank you so much for your support of our theater classroom. Each year, the class is structured to provide students with hands-on experience with drafting, designing, and building items in a theater space. The challenge that arises is that we are always needing to replenish our supplies.

This project allowed my cabinets to be filled. The markers have been used in our costuming unit and the perspective paper and scale rulers will be used in the next semester for set design. The storage bags, sewing supplies, and glue have been used across shows and units as well already. Thank you for your support!”

  • Bringing Our Theater into the Digital Age #25

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

This project has made such a difference in my classroom. As the class sizes get bigger, my students did not have enough technology for each to have an individual device. No longer do they need to share devices with a partner or hope that there is an absent student in class that day.

Now, each student has a device that they can use for designs, brainstorming, research, writing, and more. And I am excited that students will continue to use these items for years to come in each and every class I teach.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bean

Lack of access to technology is one of the unique challenges that theatre classes and facilities face. Tablets would allow the after-school theater program students to take notes during rehearsals, record their lines for memorization, and run the public performance. They would connect the theater to the larger world of theater design and practice. With a set of tablets, students will be able to learn drafting programs, design clothing, film performances, research what other theaters are doing, learn about international theater styles, write stories collaboratively, provide feedback to each other, brainstorm, and much more. Theater can be a great opportunity to open the minds of people. With the connection that tablets provide, my students’ projects will be integrated into the theatrical community outside of our four walls. It will enable them to walk out of the class with real life skills and the confidence to put their stamp on the world.
