Ambiance Jam
Funded Jan 31, 2025Thank you for the snacks and the props. It's so much more fun to do school when we can focus. Snacks take away the edge, especially in the afternoon. Students were intrigued that the UTZ snacks came in great big vending boxes this time around.
I was also able to add fruit to our snack basket this time around, so thank you for that as well. I wish that it were easier to get fresh items for students. We hear constantly about healthy eating and healthy living, but rules and circumstances make it difficult to execute. Thank you again for being a bright light in our world.”

The Forest and the Trees
Funded Feb 15, 2025Thank you so much for your generous donation. The juniors just finished Macbeth. The freshmen are in Act III of Romeo and Juliet. Students were alarmed to learn that Romeo was using the cover of night and the trees to hide himself from Juliet all while listening to her innermost secrets. It's so much fun to watch as young teenagers discover the beauty and the joy of literature in general and Shakespeare in particular. Having props just makes everything better. Thank you.
The student thank you notes will likely arrive a bit beyond the deadline as we are quickly approaching spring break.”

Dramatic Teens Need Food
Funded Mar 25, 2025Thanks for the ongoing support. We just started Macbeth this morning in my junior classes. As I am retiring this year, this will be my final go around with Shakespeare. A bittersweet event. I look forward to refilling our classroom pantry. Snacks can soothe any teenager. We are grateful for your support.”

Funded Jan 21, 2025Thank you for your generosity. Students love snacks more than most other things at school. Seriously. Their faces light up when they walk in and see that the snack bin has been restocked. I can only do that because of you.
Providing snacks began many years ago. I had a single student who always looked so hungry. I started small and kept a few items in the back of the room. One day I noticed that she was surreptitiously filling her backpack with the food. I spoke to a social worker and soon learned that her circumstances outside of the classroom were tough.
On that day, I made the choice to provide food. I haven't looked back since. Thank you for helping me to maintain this commitment to children. Maybe, one day, food insecurity will be a thing of the past.”

Snacks All Around
Funded Jan 3, 2025Thank you for keeping us alive during the winter months. It's difficult to focus when you're hungry. The chips, cookies and fruit snacks definitely take the edge off of a long day.
In addition, I was able to give a box of the potato chips to the PTSA to use at last weekend's Snowball Dance. From what I hear, the snacks were a big hit. I'm grateful to you.
At the moment, we're working on George Orwell's Animal and F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. It's fun for me to see how students' reactions change to these classic works over the years. Thanks again.”

Tiger Pride
Funded Oct 16, 2024Thank you for getting us these Tiger Pride t-shirts. Most of the shirts went to our ENL students. Wearing school pride swag is a new adventure for many of our students who are new to the country. It's a real joy to be able to be a part of this experience with them.
We also gave some of the shirts to students who can't afford their own school-themed garb. I'm thinking that we would like to aim for long sleeve shirts or possibly sweatshirts in the future. Central New York is cold in the winter.
Thank you again for your generosity. You also me to accomplish amazing things.”

The Dog Paw
Funded Dec 1, 2024Thank you so much for supporting experiential learning and community projects. When students put "hands on" whatever they are learning about, the experience changes. In this case, students put together 100 emergency canine kits that were later donated to local dog shelters and family centers. Students also had the opportunity to interact with a shelter dog and to speak with the adults who were also in attendance. Sometimes our young people feel as though they are left out of our cultural conversations. These special events change the dynamic by giving students voice and agency. Thank you for this opportunity.”

Fish & Chips
Funded Nov 27, 2024Hungry teenagers are difficult creatures to be around. Sometimes they mope. Sometimes they complain. Sometimes they put their heads down. Regardless, their focus is not on learning when they are distracted by hunger. They're children, and they're growing. True, they sometimes screw around at lunch instead of eat, but that doesn't matter. No child should be without access to food when they need it. You have helped me to take care of an important need in the classroom. Fed children are happier and more willing to learn and to focus. Thank you for your generosity.”

Funded Nov 25, 2024Thank you so much for funding this project. We had roughly 60 students participate. I wish that we could have opened the event to every student who wanted to come, but we simply didn't have enough space.
We succeeded in making 90 canine emergency kits that we will be donating to two local animal shelters and our family service center. It was fun watching the students create an assembly line. I got the supplies, but I let them figure everything else out on their own. (I had a few key helpers who set things up and guided the rest of the group.)
Thank you. Creating hands-on opportunities for students makes all the difference in the world. I couldn't have done it without you.”

Community Roundup
Funded Dec 17, 2024This is a really nice surprise. It's been a tough couple of weeks. Thanks for bringing me a smile. The students will be so happy when they hear that our lunch project got funded. I'm thinking that we'll have our get together right after the new year. Thank you again.”
