  • Diverse Books for Our Free Little Library!

    Funded Jan 27, 2021

Thanks to your generosity, our Free Little Library has been transformed into a vibrant, welcoming space filled with books that celebrate diversity, imagination, and family connections. The addition of titles such as I Am Every Good Thing, Hey Black Child, Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut, and Hair Love has allowed our students to see themselves reflected in the pages of books in ways that affirm their identities and dreams. These stories introduce important lessons in self-worth, resilience, courage, and kindness. Through books like I Can Write the World and What Will I Be?, students are also learning about goal-setting and envisioning limitless possibilities for their futures. The texts not only build reading comprehension skills but also encourage critical thinking, positive self-talk, and a love of storytelling.

Reading in our community has become an exciting, shared experience. Families often stop by the Free Little Library together, and it's not uncommon to see children eagerly pulling out books like Miles Morales or The Falcon to read aloud with a sibling or caregiver right on the sidewalk. Stories such as Jabari Jumps and The Merdragon have sparked conversations about bravery and adventure, while the Positive Affirmations Coloring Book offers a fun, interactive way to build confidence and creativity. One student in particular, a young boy who used to shy away from reading, now visits regularly to check for new superhero stories and proudly shares that he reads them at night with his dad.

Thanks to your support, reading has become not just an individual activity but a family and community experience full of fun, learning, and empowerment. The new books have inspired joy, connection, and a deeper love of reading for so many of our students — and for that, we are truly grateful.”

  • We Got the Right Tools for Success!

    Funded Aug 4, 2023

I cannot express enough gratitude for your generous support of my classroom through DonorsChoose. Your kindness made it possible for us to receive a wide range of resources that have brought both functionality and inspiration to our learning space.

The new monitor stand and desk organizer have helped transform my teaching station into a more efficient and streamlined area, allowing me to manage materials and technology with ease. This has been especially helpful during small group instruction and independent learning time, as it allows me to stay organized and focused on student needs.

The motivational posters, daily calendar, and welcome banners have brightened our classroom and created a warm, inviting atmosphere. These visual reminders of positivity and growth mindset messages are not only beautiful but also reinforce the values we hold dear: resilience, confidence, and continuous learning.

The leather portfolio and wire grid board have supported both my own planning and student organization. I've been able to model strong executive functioning and organizational skills, which are essential for helping students, especially those who may struggle with focus or structure, see what success looks like.

The Bluetooth speaker has brought a new level of engagement to our classroom. Whether we're listening to read-alouds, calming music during writing, or energizing beats during transitions, it's helped create a more dynamic and joyful learning environment.

Of course, practical items like tissues and disinfectant have ensured our classroom stays clean, safe, and comfortable for every student. These may seem small, but they make a huge difference in day-to-day learning and well-being, especially during the cold season!

Thanks to your generosity, our classroom feels even more like a space where students are empowered, supported, and celebrated. You've helped me show them that someone out there believes in their growth and their future, and that kind of belief is priceless.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Moore

  • Welcome to the Eagle's Nest! Soaring High With Pride!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

I can already imagine the posters and bulletin boards around the school. Students, families, and community members are going to feel the love, support, and encouragement from the moment they enter the doors! This project is exciting because it will help support brand-new teachers who are new to the country, state, and district. Oftentimes teachers begin and they do not have the resources they need to set up designated areas around the school. My goal was to support the school community by creating a welcoming environment for students and families. I know that the impact of this project will be felt for many months to come! Thank you for your support, kindness, and generosity! I could not have accomplished it without you!”

  • Children's Place Plus Organization Equals Success for All!

    Funded Jul 13, 2023

I have a feeling that this is going to be the best school year yet and you are one of the reasons I am so motivated and excited about this year! While this project was small and mighty, I consider it an amazing project because I am able to increase my organization skills, which is major in kindergarten along with being able to award students for positive behavior with a Children's Place Gift Card! What child doesn't like to win and earn money where they can pick out some of their favorite items? I can already see the joy and excitement on my students faces. This week, I will be able to organize and setup my classroom for success! I am beyond excited to have the ability to do so with file folders and a file folder organizer! As a kindergarten teacher, you can never over organize! I'm ready to kick off an amazing school year! Thank you for making it all possible and for being a part of my village!”

  • Crafts to Celebrate the Lunar New Year!

    Funded Dec 26, 2022

I can still recall and remember all of the fun that we had with our Chinese family thanks to this project! It was an amazing feeling to be able to show the family love and support because monthly they have poured their support into our classroom. I could always count on them to support the students in a variety of ways and it was heartwarming to be able to return the love! Arts and crafts, Chinese New Year Coloring Pages, Paper Dragons, watching dragons dance, passing out red envelopes, and so much more. It was a busy week celebrating with our dear friend and our students learned so much more about the Chinese New Year and Culture! I could not have done this without the kindness and generosity of my support system! Thank you for helping my students learn more about a different culture and creating an environment where our family was loved and celebrated!”

  • Supplies That Are Not So Basic: Back to School Edition!

    Funded Jul 25, 2023

I have the absolute best support system and village ever! Thank you so much for your help and support with bringing this project to life! I am excited to begin to setup, organize, decorate and put everything in its place for the upcoming school year. In a few short weeks we will welcome kindergarten students to class. The flowers will allow me to setup a peaceful and calm environment. The Clorox wipes, Kleenex will allow me to keep the germs away and have plenty of tissues on handy for runny noses and teary faces.

The Ziploc bags will allow me to store my students clothes and other items in the cubbies for the school year. At the start of the year we have a ton of paperwork and items that need to go home. We will use the Mead Large Envelopes to send home important paperwork for families to keep records and documentation in order when returning them back to school.

I am extremely thankful and excited to have these items on hand to prep and setup for the start of the school year! Because of you, it will be easier and my stress will be minimized! Thank you for your kindness and generosity!”

  • Operation Organization for a Successful Year of Learning!

    Funded Jul 22, 2023

I cannot thank you enough! Thank you so very much for donating, supporting and leaving kind messages for this project! While this project may seem small, it makes a huge difference having good quality scissors and a stapler. It's amazing how much cutting and stapling that is done at the start of the school year! It makes a huge difference when you have multiple pair of scissors and a good stapler to help put up bulletin boards and more! The Lysol and Kleenex will come in handy when it is time to fight germs and keep high touch areas in the clean. We can never have too many tissues when the cold and allergy season begins. A huge shout of thanks again for helping to set my classroom up for success! The Outlet Control Switch helps tremendously with turning off classroom lights, computers, and more with just a click of a button! I am excited to see everything in action at the start of the school year. Thank you for helping me kick off a smooth year of learning!”

  • Back to School With Kinder Clothing Basics

    Funded Jul 9, 2023

I am so excited to have these clothes and gift cards to support the students and families. The additional socks, tee-shirts, shorts, and underwear will come in handy for any child that may need them due to accidents or spills. At the start of the school year, this is very important because the students may arrive nervous, not make it to the bathroom in a timely manner, or spill milk and juice on their clothes during breakfast and lunch. Having a child stay at school wet, sticky, and uncomfortable makes for an extremely long day. Not anymore! Thank you for supporting with these clothes to help our new kindergarten students at the start of the school year!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Moore

  • Organized + Fidgets = Prepared for Learning 2023-2024!

    Funded Jul 9, 2023

Thank you so much for your support with this project! I know my incoming students are going to love the LED lights that I use in place of the fluorescent overhead lighting that can be harsh on the eyes. I also have a few items that I am going to use in my calm down corner that I know will help engage and provide a calming distraction to my incoming students. The sand art lamp and 2 fidget toys will be a great addition to my calm down corner basket of items.

I am excited to have a clock that will help keep me on track and focused. Oftentimes I get so engaged in student learning that I run over time. This clock will help keep this from happening. Lastly, I will use the clear mat at my desk to place notes and reminders under. With it being clear, I will be able to keep track of the daily reminders that I set for myself to stay on task. I can also use it during small group to write on and provide an additional writing space for my students.

Being organized as a kindergarten teacher is extremely important. With all of the moving pieces and bodies, it is the small things that are often needed to remain focused and on task so I can maximize learning each day! Thank you for being a part of my classroom family!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Moore

  • Children's Place + Organized for Success!

    Funded Jun 3, 2023

At the end of the school year, I always sit and reflect to think of what I can do better in the upcoming school year. As a kindergarten teacher, organization and ensuring everything has a place is an ongoing goal of mine, so I am able to model being responsible in the classroom for the students. The Gift Cards were given to some students to celebrate their positive behavior for the end of the school year. They were so excited because they were able to buy some summer clothes and go to the beach with a new bathing suit and flip flops. These are the comments and conversations that you grow to appreciate with your students. School has evolved and changed so much and I have come to realize that I must nurture and love all aspects of my students. This encouraged them and will be a core memory for those 2 students in particular who did have a few hardships.

Silent cheers with the additional organizational items. A few of my students smiled and immediately wanted to help me organize my desk. They knew that I kept my pens, pencils and markers separated so I could use them quickly when needed during small group, grading student work and more. It was so exciting and slightly nostalgic watching them help me setup my desk which doubles as a small group table. This table had so many memories that we had developed over the year and I can specifically recall talking to them about why the items on my desk were placed where they were. So watching them happily set up items and recall stories, conversations and work activities allowed me to see that I had done my job this year. One student said, "Miss Moore, you are going to have to teach the new students how to leave stuff alone on your desk." I could only smile and laugh, and I told them "no, they will just have to set it all back up.

As an educator, sometimes no one understands all of your random quirks and at times type A personality but I can always say that my students understood and as a result will be more organized, responsible, and tidy. As my students enjoy summer, I know they will remember and carry these character traits with them.

Please know, that as a teacher of littles, these organizational items are ESSENTIAL with maintaining structure, routines, consistency, and so much more! I appreciate you so much for understanding the value and importance of this project! Thank you for being apart of my classroom family! Know that you have made a difference in the lives of my students because they were able to learn some valuable life lessons on maintaining a tidy, neat, and organized classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Moore
