  • Feed Your Brain!

    Funded Feb 21, 2022

Wow! Thank you so much for funding our project! My first graders were so excited when all those boxes arrived! They lit up when they saw the variety of snacks that arrived. It's so nice to know I'll have nutritious and fun snacks and juices for them as we finish our year!

Having snacks for recess and after school really helps keep their minds and bodies on learning. Hungry or thirsty kids are not paying much attention or listening in the classroom! You made such a difference and helped these young kids focus on what's important and helped with their success!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hagmann

  • Smashing Sums!

    Funded Dec 30, 2021

Amazing! That's what my first graders said when we received our big Lakeshore box filled with play dough and tactile number lines! We had to open the play dough right away and smell all the yummy flavors of fruit. We started rolling balls and smashing sums that same day! It was so much fun! They can't wait to continue tomorrow! We also used the number lines to add and subtract quickly! All the students were so successful and it really showed in their smiles (and in the noise level). Thank you for helping make school so much for my class!”

  • Markers, Pop Its and Slime Oh My!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for your generosity! There are many deserving projects on Donors Choose and I'm grateful you chose mine this time around. My first graders absolutely love blending with pop-its and slime. They are so engaged and even want to practice at recess! That is what learning is all about! They are also enjoying using the markers and stickers for writer's workshop! What a difference some new markers and some fun stickers make to their creative and writing process! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and wish you a happy holiday season!”

  • Home Sweet Home

    Funded Nov 5, 2021

My first graders went nuts when they got their new crayons, scissors, and glue! Then flipped when I told them they get to take home and keep these supplies as well! It was an exciting day! My students couldn't wait to do homework and put their supplies to use at home! Today we sharpened all their pencils, wrote names on scissors and decorated bags to store their new supplies in. They asked for pages that required cutting, gluing and lots of coloring! New crayons are THE BEST! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donations! Look at the excitement in the faces in the pictures posted!”

  • Scooby Snacks for You!

    Funded Oct 28, 2021

Thank YOU! We are stocked with healthy snacks and treats for cold mornings and long days. My class appreciates your generosity and kindness! Handing a hungry first grader a granola bar or fruit snack when they say they don't feel well and say they didn't eat breakfast is so fulfilling! All these snacks will come in so handy in the next few months! I can't tell you how grateful I am to be the classroom you choose to donate to this time! I hope you know what a difference you all made! You have touched the hearts (and stomachs) of my students! Thank you!!!”

  • You Can Count On Me!

    Funded Oct 26, 2021

My first graders were sooo excited when they saw their new counters were trucks, cars, animals, fish, gems, and dinosaurs! Their faces lit up and math was extra loud and productive! Students that have been slower to participate in the past, jumped right into math counting today. The students were adding, subtracting and counting as much as they could! They didn't want it to end and that was music to my ears! I am so grateful for people like you who help make public education more fun and engaging for our little learners!”

  • Stand By Me!

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

Thank you all so much for choosing to donate to our first grade class! This mobile standing desk will give students a chance to have flexible seating when they write or are engaged in math activities. I am excited to share photos of students using it! This year is tough and having that flexibility to move around the room or have some quiet time to focus is key to successful workers.

When you see the big smiles and excitement on my first graders faces I know you will realize the impact you have made! I appreciate your kindness and support!”

  • Safety Storage First!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

BEST FRIDAY DELIVERY EVER! I can't express how thankful I am to have these organizational bins for the first grade manipulatives. These are going to really help keep students safe in the middle of this pandemic (not having to share is key)! The scented stickers were a big hit as I let them pick their favorite flavor! Smiling eyes (due to mask wearing) were very big! The desk name plates and Pete the Cat name tags sparked lots of conversations and giggles! We really appreciate your generosity and thoughtfulness!”

  • Three Cheers for Centers!

    Funded May 13, 2021

Thank you all so much for these fun and educational beginning of the year games! My students were just introduced to centers and these were a huge hit! I love that it's all magnetic so pieces don't get lost (so far so good)! The number lines have been very helpful for building number sense and they keep them on their desk for reference. I can't wait to se how they advance with building words and number sense as they continue to enjoy using these games! I really appreciate your kindness and generosity!”

  • 2021 Rewards for 2020 Recovery!

    Funded May 7, 2021

Thank you so much for all the wonderful calming fidgets, animal erasers and stickers! These social emotional items made the first few days easy for nervous first graders! They absolutely loved playing with their fidgets and will be making math story problems with their stickers. The fidget poppers they will sound words out with and blend to read and write. They can be used for calming too! I'm so happy to have all these resources at my finger tips and ready use as needed. I am very grateful for your donations!”

My little first graders are the most curious, excited to learn, and eager to please students you'll ever meet! Even with the many burdens they bring with them each day, they always give me a smile and show me how happy they are to be at school! Six years olds shouldn't have any of the obstacles that my students do, but even in spite of their economic, social, or home struggles they always try their best! It's amazing to witness every day and it makes me so grateful to be a teacher!
