Inspiring Women in Stem
Funded Nov 29, 2022It's pretty exciting when a grant gets funded on Donor's Choose. I am one of the lucky teacher recipients this year and want to tell you how grateful I am. Given the current climate in the world of education, donor's like you are a beacon of hope.
Thank you for your donation towards STEM books to benefit our school and our students. Thank you for caring so much and being an important part of my students' success. Most importantly, thank you for not just seeing the value of what teachers are doing, but working to support our efforts.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Opdenberg
This classroom project was brought to life by an Anonymous Classroom Supporter and 7 other donors. What? We Can't Hear You!
Funded Feb 25, 2020This letter is long overdue. I want to thank each of you for helping me reach my goal of purchasing a voice amplification system for my classroom. This was a REAL group effort and I am so grateful to everyone for their help.
First of all, thank you to my private donors. You believe in me and the importance of my work. That is the message that you sent with your donation. Next, I want to thank FrontRow for subsidizing my project, making it possible.
Notably, my students contributed on multiple occasions by participating in activities to earn google grants for this project. They knew what we were working towards and were happy to do the extra work to support my goal. How cool is THAT?!?!
As a special area teacher, I every student with special needs comes into my room. The importance of a voice amplification system could not be more important and I thank you for making this happen for me and my students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Opdenberg
What's Underground in the Garden?
Funded Aug 20, 2019At School 2 in Little Falls, students enjoy gardening in the Spring and Fall. Last month students harvested lettuce from the garden. We hosted a tasting for each grade so students could taste the harvest.
This year, because of your donation, students also planted their Root View gardens for their classroom windows. As the lettuce was growing outside, seeds were also growing inside. Students have tracked the root development and gained a better understanding of what's going on under the ground in the garden and it is fascinating to them.
The best part of this project is that the kits are reusable. Classrooms will be able to use them for years - all thanks to you”
With gratitude,
Ms. Opdenberg
Microbits Make Coding Magic!
Funded Dec 1, 2017For their first Microbit project, my middle school students followed a suggested beginner project from Microsoft: Makecode called "Making With Microbit". In this project students designed, created and programmed a pet Microbit. The photos show some of their adorable, interactive creations.
When students first saw the Microbits they were excited to try something new and use some of their programming skills for a project where they could see actual results in real life. Students from these two middle school classes will be bringing their Microbit pets to our Grade K-2 MakerFaire (on May 8th), where they will demonstrate their work, inspiring our youngest students. That means that your contribution to this project will spread the learning and excitement even further in our community!
Thank you for believing in the power and importance of technology education. Thank you for donating the Microbits Make Coding Magic project in Little Falls, NJ.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Opdenberg
