Learning Beyond the Classroom Walls
Funded Dec 20, 2019The kids love using technology and the really love field trips. But cost and logistics associated with field trips often make those experience limited. Through the amazing and generous donation of the virtual reality gear, my students will be able to travel outside the classroom without physically going anywhere. Our opportunities will be amazing.
The kids were totally nuts when they heard our project was funded and that we were getting a starter class set of VR Gear. They were so ready to teach me how to use the gear as I am a novice and many of them were far more experienced than me.
We have the career unit planned for end of March and April with additional virtual trip in May during state testing (as a great stress reliever) except Covid-19 closed schools and we haven't reopened yet. I am working to find a way to use the VR sets when our schools open for face to face instructions given our social distance guidelines. I promise your generous donation will be a HUGE game changers for my classes this coming school year.”

Funded Dec 20, 2019The rocket kits are amazing. The cheers of excitement with news of their arrival was so loud we disturbed our neighboring class. The kids were so anxiously awaiting to launch the rocket in the spring when our weather would permit launch time. Unfortunately, Covid-19 reared it's ugly head and schools were closed before we could launch them. With the fall already setting up to be an E-learning environment, I hope to be able to broadcast live a launch or two during class time for them to see the experience. But I am saving the majority of the rockets for when face to face instruction is possible again.
Your generous donation will make it possible for all of my Flight & Space students to have the opportunity to launch a rocket as they learn about forces and flight. Activities like this make learning come to life and puts the student in the pilots seats. Without your support we could not afford these kind of materials and kits.”

This classroom project was brought to life by 3M.Comfy Seats for Learners!
Funded Dec 20, 2019The donation of our flexible seats were greatly welcomed by my students. We are always up and moving for our STEM labs and investigation. But there are days when we have "pre-learning" to do and that means seating at desks (which the kids really dislike). Your donation made it possible that my students could sit anywhere in the class to do their "pre-learning" work before labs. Every day since the donation arrived, my kids rush to class to see if the "alternative" seating sign is posted. There are huge smiles on their faces when they see the sign up. Through your generous donation, we now have enough alternative seats that every child can chose to sit where they want to do their learning when we are not in lab mode. Your donation made a great difference in the learning environment for my kids. Thank you.”

Funded Dec 20, 2019The donation of a dozen Wilburs for my students to take on the role of a medical examiner is a wonderfully engaging and unique opportunity especially in Middle School. We greatly appreciate the support and donation of the fetal pigs and dissection tools. Your generosity and selection of our project makes a huge difference in my students learning. Without this funding, the project would not have happened. Instead my students would have had to settle for a video or pictures. Thanks to 3M my students get the DO and TRY rather than just watch.”

Funded Feb 15, 2020Thank you for your support with our real-life investigation into antibiotics and how they can fight infections. This activity gave my students a real world experience that demonstrated how effective and ineffective different antibiotics were against a different types of diseases. It is one thing to read or talk about it this kind of issue in class. It is a totally different learning experience when the science is put in the hands of the students. This project provided them exposure to the biomedical career of a lab technician and the world of pharmacology. They are sure to remember this experience. I greatly appreciate the support and donation of the supplies. You made it possible for my students to truly learn from their science experience.”

A Bloody Investigation
Funded Nov 26, 2018Your donations last year made it possible for over 300 students to experience first hand how doctors and CSI agents work with blood, how to type blood, and learn about blood type compatibility. The students were excited to have the chance to learn their own blood type and see what blood types their friends had too. With the data collected we were also able to compare our classroom population's blood types to the world's blood type percentages. This allowed me to integrate math with our science lessons. These type of hands-on lessons help bring science alive for my students. Without your support we could not have had this learning opportunity for so many students.”

Funded Nov 26, 2018This project is a HUGE hit with all of the students. They love getting to literally extract DNA from their saliva. It always amazes me how excited and grossed out at the same time the kids are when they see the DNA grow. These kits are so easy to use and nearly all of my students grow some kind of DNA. It is wonderful to have an interactive lab that ALL my students can do and everyone can be successful. Thank you for your kind donation of these DNA Necklace Kits and helping bring science alive for my students. You have made the difference in their learning.”

Funded May 14, 2018It was amazing to be able to provide my students with 5 different DNA investigation labs. We had a wonderful time completing the labs and investigating the ways DNA can be examined. The students were completely engaged with the opportunity to "be" the "lab technician" and execute the labs with nearly instant results. Because of your generosity and funding of our project, my students were not only able to add to their science knowledge but were also provide the opportunity to experience a real-world job they could peruse as a career. Your support of my Junior Medical Detectives was greatly appreciate and helping create future medical professional. Thank you kindly for the support.”

Crime Stoppers in Action - Collecting Prints & Evidence.
Funded Mar 27, 2018The fun and engagement of all my students from these 4 days of fingerprint labs was off the charts with success. Each of my 6 classes with 26+ students were totally active and in love with the hands-on experience using fingerprint powders, metallic dust, lifting tape, and different types of brushes. We had perfect attendance all week in all 6 classes. The powdery mess was incredible too but all the clean up was so worth it. My Junior Medical Detectives were talking about the 4 different labs for weeks to come. Being able to share the photos on our Facebook page with friends and family added to their proudness and memories. Thank you kindly for your generosity and funding of the materials needed for these activities. We can't wait to do it again this year!”

Funded Nov 29, 2017The cheer of excitement when I announced the news of receiving the funding of our project was loud enough to practically rattle the windows. We had the yoga balls in under and week and it within a few days the cage was full.
Words can't not express the joy and pleasure it is to have enough yoga balls in our "cage" to allow every student the alternative seat option. For the past two years, I have struggled with this wonderful seating option with 24 to 30 students per class and only 8 to 12 yoga balls available. The rush to get a ball, the fighting over colors or size, and the emotional upset when there were not enough are all gone now.
Thanks to our generosity we have enough color and size options as well as balls for everyone to be happy with their wiggle bum seat. You made a difference in Med Detectives for my students this year and many more to come.”
