  • iTech with ISTELive 21!

    Funded May 4, 2021

I believe that professional growth and development is very important. I am excited to be able to attend this national conference for the first time. I can't wait to connect with other educators, gain new knowledge and share with my colleagues. I am looking forward to the new projects that will develop from this wonderful opportunity.”

  • Sometimes You Need a Recharge

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

We are so exciting for our own personal "stash" of batteries. Of course, we have wonderful friends who would let us "borrow" a few if we need them. But, what a difference it makes to have your very own. Once our package arrived, we were able to wake up some of our devices that we have not used in a while. And with so many batteries, we can use these items as much as possible without the worry of running out of battery life again. Not only that, these batteries can be used not only in the technology lab but anywhere in the school. Thank you so much for supporting us with this valuable resource.”

  • On the Road to TYHO Cruise 2019

    Funded Apr 1, 2019

Thank you so much for making my professional development dreams come true. The Teach Your Heart Out Bahamas cruise was an amazing experience. It was great to connect with educators from across the country and learn in a fun environment. The presenters shared so many innovative strategies that can be easily implemented in any classroom. The TYHO team planned a variety of sessions, events, and activities that kept us engaged for the entire trip. I enjoyed meeting so many different educators and sharing ideas.

The highlight, of course, was our trip to Sandilands Primary in Nassau, Bahamas. We were able to meet the principal, some teachers, and some students. We donated supplies and money to the school. The principal made a presentation and the students sang as a gesture of appreciation.

I traveled from South Carolina to Miami to the Bahamas and it was all made possible through your generous donation(s)! I cannot wait to share what I learned with my own faculty/staff in August. Once again, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”

I cannot wait to share what I learned with my own faculty/staff when we begin school again. I am also excited to see if there will be another opportunity so that they can join me next time! I wish that I could share more of the pictures that I took with you all. Once again, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. ”

  • The Learning Lodge: Our STEAM Community

    Funded Dec 21, 2018

Our new learning environment has been a huge hit in the STEAM Lab. Not only is it a great place for students to learn, but our teachers benefit as well. Of course our sofa is a huge hit. It is the ideal place for some comfortable, collaborative work to occur. There have been so many compliments on the space. As students were working, one stopped and said, "This is a very pretty room!" I am happy that our students enjoy the home-style decor. Some of them have even stopped by to complete assignments, just because they wanted a quiet place to work. The STEAM Lab has also been a great place for teachers to meet during professional learning community meetings. They get an idea of the technology projects that can be implemented or recreated in their own classrooms. This room has been a dream come true and I am truly thankful to our wonderful donors who made this possible. You are the BEST!”

  • Game On: STEM Activities for Creative Learners

    Funded Sep 12, 2018

We have been able to accomplish something great with our new resources...a Technology Gallery Walkthrough. This concept was first introduced to teachers so that they could come and experience the technology that students have access to with a hands-on experience. We had donations for snacks and coffee from local businesses. Next, our students had the opportunity to come and have the same experience (no snacks). After a session in the gallery, students complete a brief Google form to share how these resources can also be used in their classroom. We are extremely excited about having these STEM games/resources be a part of our participation in Hour of Code as well.”

    Funded Sep 18, 2018

This concept was first introduced to teachers so that they could come and experience the technology that students have access to with a hands-on experience. We had donations for snacks and coffee from local businesses. Next, our students had the opportunity to come and have the same experience (no snacks). Of course, our new Oculus Go VR headset was a huge hit! Students used this with 360 photographs to visit sites around the world. In the end, we can keep our materials secure and organized in our new caddy/storage bins.”

  • Part Two: Botley Crew

    Funded Apr 24, 2018

Botley has been a huge hit with our computer science club members! They have enjoyed being able to program using the remote, arrows, looping, and object detection functions. These students have also been able to use the activity kit to build and design different obstacle courses as a challenge for each other. Throughout our time together, the students have been working on computer programs to write coding scripts. These lessons have been directed, but self-paced. I enjoy providing additional activities that give them hands-on experience. The great part about Botley is that students can easily put in a program and make adjustments through trial and error. I think this will help them to continue to enhance their skills in coding.”

  • Girls Can Code 2.0 and Other Coding Topics

    Funded Aug 24, 2017

I am on a mission to get more girls interested in computer science and coding. As you might imagine, this is not an easy task, but one that I am willing to tackle one girl at a time. Some great things about our new library of books: they serve a variety of purposes and benefit everyone (not just the girls). The girls get to see other females in the field or students using the same materials. The books also relate to some clubs and projects that have been introduced this year. Students can start at the beginner level and challenge themselves to learn more at their own pace.”

  • We Are Counting on Rekenreks!

    Funded Sep 25, 2017

Thank you for generously donating to our project request for rekenreks. All of our first graders are now able to use this essential math tool in the classroom. It is important to us that we start building a strong foundation in number sense at an early age. Many students learn best through hands-on methods. This math tool is just what our young learners need as they develop strategies to practice skills such as: adding, subtraction, counting on and counting by ones. The best part about this project being funded is that each and every student will have his/her own to use during math instruction. We are very grateful that you have enabled us to provide this opportunity for our students.”
