Reeds So We Can Read
Funded Aug 3, 2019Thank you for supporting our music program. While I have transitioned to a different school this year, I still have students in need and these resources have really helped with some of our kiddos that are playing larger instruments. Funded Apr 10, 2019This made a huge impact on our students this year! Thank you for supporting our music program at Ravenswood Middle School! I noticed a drastic improvement on my students' effort immediately upon handing out their new shoulder rests. These shoulder rests really help students to hold their instruments properly which has a direct correlation to playing better. Thank you for helping our young musicians grow. Our performances have improved greatly this year and the students are enjoying the class too! Thank you for your support!”

Getting In Tune With Our Sounds
Funded Apr 25, 2019Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! These tuners helped as a scaffold in teaching students to learn to tune their instruments by ear. These devices helped build independence and confidence in my students. Learning to tune by ear is very challenging. Having a visual representation of the concept makes it more tangible and easier to understand and replicate. These tuners will be used for many years to come. Thank you for helping to support our orchestra program at Ravenswood Middle School!”

Viola for Very Awesome Musicians
Funded Nov 26, 2018We are thrilled about our new viola! It seems as though every time I get caught up in this department, I get another musician in town to play viola. We are so excited! We now have three real violas (as opposed to violins with viola strings). Only one more and all of our musicians will have the appropriate instrument in their hands. Thank you for supporting our growing and thriving music program. We greatly appreciate your financial support! Music is such a valuable tool for our students.

Funded Jan 30, 2019Thank you for supporting our music program! Things are going very well. I can't tell you how excited my kiddos were to have this wonderful new equipment. We learned how to do new jazz techniques. The look on their faces when they finally got to bend notes like a real jazz musician was amazing. I loved sharing that with the kids. We are looking at our debut performance for the RMS jazz band next week and I can't wait to show off their new skills! Thank you so much for supporting our music program!”

iPad for Incredible Students!
Funded Jan 8, 2019Thank you for supporting our young musicians. This project surprised me in the way it impacted my students. This year we have started a jazz band at our school. Things have been great so far, but my pianist is struggling because she doesn't have prior knowledge of the piano, and she's jumping in feet first without much extra support. We have been utilizing a few apps on the ipad to help her learn to play piano and while I didn't think they would be overly helplful at first, she has learned so much and so quickly! We have also been using the camera function a great deal to record tests and class excepts to reference at home.

Funded Jan 30, 2019Thank you for supporting our young musicians! I'm so glad that we can now offer a Music department uniform shirt for all band and orchestra students. I look forward to making our second round of shirts in the next few weeks with our students. The kids love to do this screen printing project. We have fun, we learn something from it, and we build the strength of our team. Making these shirts has become one of my favorite projects to do with my students. Thank you for helping to support music in our school!”

Help Us Take the Weight Off Our Shoulders!
Funded Feb 26, 2019Thank you for your kind and generous support! These shoulder rests have already made a huge impact on my classroom climate. When we first started our orchestra we had shoulder rests that were... less than desirable to say the least. They've been falling apart for a couple of years now. Last year we replaced a few of them and I hope to replace the rest of them now. My students were very excited about the new shoulder rests! They are practicing more now and participating in class every day far more than before. It's amazing how making them comfortable will help promote success. THANK YOU!”

Flexible Seating for Meaningful Mentorship
Funded Dec 28, 2018This project became a great addition to our mentoring program. Thank you so much for donating to our school. Our students have the privilege of relaxing while they study for math, language, science, and social studies now that we have received these bean bag chairs. With a more comfortable environment, it is much easier for our students to relax and fully engage in learning and mentoring. The kids look forward to coming in to work and learn every time we meet.
