  • Searching for Series: Help Fill Our Collection Gaps!

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you for adding books to our libraries! I took two photos when the books first came in, but they've been pretty much all checked out since then.

The 5th grade girls are OBSESSED with the Maria Scrivan graphic novels - as soon as one is returned, it pops up as on hold for another student.

2nd graders are super into the Treehouse series and negotiate who gets which one next.

And lots of kids have been borrowing the Case Closed books to see if they can make the right choices to solve the crimes.

Your support helps my students be excited about reading!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Moore

  • Searching for Series: Help Fill Our Collection Gaps!

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

Thank you so much for your donations! I am home sick today, and seeing your supportive messages has brightened my spirits. The kids will go cuckoo for the books!

Reading supports vocabulary, writing skills, empathy, and imaginations ... along with being a wonderful source of entertainment and information. Having fun books that the students WANT to read makes my job easier.”

  • For Those About to Mock: Award Winners Wanted!

    Funded Feb 5, 2025

Thank you for continuing to support me and my students with new books! I can guarantee these will fly out the door as soon as I am done processing them.

In these uncertain times, it is comforting to know that you have my back and are willing to fund the library.”

  • Beginning Readers to Help My Kids Ending Up Loving Books

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

How cute are these books????? And they are perfect for my early readers.

Picture books are what we traditionally think of as "kids'" books, but they usually have a lot of words that kids can't decode. They are more for grownups to read to the kids.

But early readers are tailor-made for kids learning how to read. Controlled vocabulary and specific illustrations help them figure out how letters and sounds work together to create words. And they're usually full of humor. And cuteness.

Thank you for bringing these books to our library!”

  • Searching for Series: Help Fill Our Collection Gaps!

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Thank you so much for your support! These books will find readers the day I put them on the shelf. I so appreciate your contributions to our library and our students. There are so many options competing for their attention - being able to provide wanted books as one of those options is my mission.”

  • Searching for Series: Help Fill Our Collection Gaps!

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

As expected, these books have flown off the shelves.

One girl who LOVES "Whatever After" was so thrilled, she has been doing book talks about the new ones, inspiring her classmates to also start reading the series.

Actually, a couple of kids have also done book talks on "No Brainer" and "Cat Kid Comic Club" ... thank you for bringing book joy to my students!

The kids so appreciate when I listen to their requests, and when YOU make them a reality. So many of our most popular books were added to our collection thanks to DonorsChoose, and you really are making a difference.”

  • Next! Help Bring New Series Titles to Our Library

    Funded Jan 17, 2024

Before the books had bar codes or plastic covers on them, kids had spied the open box and were clamoring for the new titles. I was able to hand several of them (as seen in photos) to the kids who had specifically asked for the next books in series they had discovered and loved. Other kids immediately placed holds in the online catalog as soon as they saw that their classmates had the coveted titles in hand.

Thank you so much for all of your support. My days are often a whirlwind of stress, and generosity like yours brings a smile to my face.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Moore

  • Help Us Medal: 2023 ALA Award Winners Needed

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you so much for bringing this collection of award-winning books to our libraries. They include picture books, early readers, nonfiction, and novels. The content ranges from silly (characters dropping their ice cream in "Owl & Penguin") to serious (racism against Asians in "Maizy Chen"). Actually, several are pretty serious, including racism against Blacks in "Swim Team" and "Choosing Brave."

I appreciate the opportunity for my students to learn about the world around them via fiction and graphic novels.

Thanks again for adding to my students' education.”

  • Get the Geisels into Our Libraries!

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you so much for bringing these early readers into our libraries.

The longer I do this job, the more I realize that my kids need more of these books to support their literacy; picture books are appropriate for everyone, but they are designed for adults to read to children. Early readers, on the other hand, are tailor-made for kids at different ability levels and give them the opportunity to read on their own.

Flubby, Chick & Brain, Otto, and Ty are all welcome additions to our shelves! And we can never have enough Elephant & Piggie!”

    With gratitude,

  • Next! Bring Popular Graphic Novel Series Titles to Our Libraries

    Funded May 9, 2023

I took the photos back in May and checked all the books out to the kids during the last month of circulation, and forgot to let you know!

Judd, I wish that I were allowed to show kids' faces in these photos, because the reluctant reader who discovered Hilo and became obsessed - his jaw literally dropped and he jumped up and down when I told him that you had bought more books in the series for him to read. And then all of his friends wanted to read them too.

Your support means so much! Thank you for bringing books - and excitement - to my libraries!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Moore
