The students here at our inner-city high school in California are proving to be selfless and compassionate. These students, the majority of whom don't even know Jose, jumped at the chance to help him when they heard about his story. Jose is not a popular student. He is shy, kind, and academic. Our students have designed and executed numerous fundraisers, and many of the students volunteer hours and hours of their time to help the cause. The students started helping with no expectation of any rewards or recognition. All different types of students have been involved, regardless of race, creed, or financial status. We have students from other schools, even private schools and elementary kids, supporting and donating money. The community was so touched by the story of these teenagers coming to the aid of their friend that they started sending in their own money. Our initial goal was $3,000, but we have raised over $80,000 for our Jose. And these students want to keep going!
