• Outdoor Play and Learn

  The materials ordered for the Outdoor Play and Learn project on Donors Choose have brought so much joy to the families we serve. They have allowed for increased play around gross motor development. This play has not only motivated children to be more active, but caretakers, parents, and teachers as well. These materials bring in more joy and movement to our program, but also allow for opportunities to teach parents about the importance of gross motor development, the importance of being outside, and the importance of allowing children to take physical risks.

  We have been able to use these materials during our normal school year programming, our summer pop-ups and classes, as well as our outdoor classes. With this project we are able to transform any space into a fun environment for kids and adults. This has supported the strengthening of bonds between adults and children in our classes. These materials have encouraged movement, and also language development as well. We incorporate the use of color words, counting words, and position words when using our bodies with these materials. Thanks to this supported project, we are supporting multiple areas of early child development, including physical, social emotional, and language. Gracias.”

• Make-n-Take Bags

  Funded May 3, 2021

  The Take and Make bags have been a huge hit. Families have expressed so much gratitude for the materials, resources, books, and both written and video instructions. The tape and crayon resist activity has been wonderful for making cards as well as works of art. The slime ingredients made for fun family bonding while also creating a great way to keep hands busy, or to get out some bigger emotions. We look forward to creating instructions for two more activities that families can do together at home with another set of take and make materials. Our goal is to provide take and make bags at least twice a year for Programa Familiar de Lenguaje Families, with the hope of increasing distribution to 4 times per year. The addition of this resource for my students and families came to fruition because of your support. Thank you for investing in the language development and the family connection of my students.”

• Programa Familiar de Lenguaje moves Outdoors

  Funded Apr 7, 2021

  Thanks to your generous donations, students have new ways to further develop their gross motor such as balance, jumping, and walking. They have also enjoyed our new materials to practice colors and counting, and even building. Students were overjoyed to have new materials/toys and using them in our obstacle courses is one of their favorite part of class. Programa Familiar de Lenguaje is currently very excited to continue both in-person and virtual classes through the winter. We will be working on clothing in the winter and then life cycles in the spring. We are also looking forward to incorporating a small garden for children and parents to take care of their own plants and watch them grow through the Spring and Summer.”
