At Shenendehowa, we believe today's Kindergartners are tomorrow’s leaders. Our mission is to work continuously and in partnership with the community to ensure that all students develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and character needed to live useful, productive and rewarding lives.

We are committed to giving our teachers the tools they need to carry out this mission, and we actively seek innovative ways to provide engaging experiences for our students. Students are at the center of our work!
A quality instructional program promotes learning and a strong foundation for adult life. A focus on students includes ensuring safety, belonging, cultural relevance and intellectual and social engagement.
The Shenendehowa Learning Framework identifies key components of the instructional program and student experience.
Each day, our teachers strive to create rigorous and engaging learning environments for our students.
Students learn best when:
  • They are psychologically and cognitively available, engaged (methods of instruction are responsive to their needs) and learning at the highest level
  • Self-directed learning is cultivated; pedagogical practices are modernized; and learning is contextualized
  • The content is personally and globally relevant, incorporates students’ cultural backgrounds and is taught by motivated and well-prepared staff
  • Their individual strengths and efforts are acknowledged and celebrated; specific and timely feedback on their learning is provided, lending to growth and improvement
