This gives them a confidence boost, proving to themselves that they are intelligent people who can actively participate in the world.\r\n\r\nMy students, currently and for years to come, will use these supplies to decipher the texts we read in class. This helps them connect with literature and learning of all types.\r\n\r\nStudents who have a positive attitude towards learning can achieve their goals because they know that through hard work and determination, they can achieve anything. As students gain confidence in themselves and their ability to learn, we can work through increasingly complex texts and deepen their understanding of the world.\r\n\r\nMany of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and do not have many new possessions. I have heard students wonder aloud as to why people they don't even know would be willing to buy them supplies for school.
