They have a timer and know for five minutes, they can sit and read, relax, and just work through their anxiety. The class fully uses the fidget tools when needed and are very respectful and appreciative of the donations received.\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for your incredible generosity in supporting our project, \"Harmonious History Habitat.\" When the boxes arrived at our school, the atmosphere in the classroom was electric. My scholars were beyond excited to see the new resources, and their faces lit up as they explored the fidget tools, the timers, and the cozy new seating options. It was a moment of pure joy and validation for them to realize that people they have never met care deeply about their comfort and success.\r\n\r\nThese materials have already transformed our daily routine. We have implemented a \"five-minute reset\" system where students can use a timer to sit, relax, and work through moments of anxiety or overwhelm. This dedicated space for mental clarity has become a cornerstone of our classroom culture. My scholars are learning to advocate for their own emotional needs, recognizing when they need a quiet moment to read or a fidget tool to help them focus during a challenging lesson. They have been incredibly respectful and appreciative of every item, treating these donations with the utmost care.\r\n\r\nBeyond just \"stuff,\" these supplies have provided my students with a sense of security. I have hung the encouraging signs you funded throughout the room, providing a constant point of reference for scholars when they need to be reminded to breathe deeply or stay encouraged. We are seeing a noticeable decrease in test anxiety and a significant increase in engagement during group work. The fidgets, in particular, have allowed my students to stretch their academic abilities without becoming overwhelmed by the pressure.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, our next steps involve integrating these self-regulation tools into our larger history projects. We are currently working on a unit that requires deep focus and critical thinking, and having these \"de-stress\" resources available ensures that every student can participate fully and confidently. Your support hasn't just provided supplies; it has built a sanctuary where my students feel safe to learn, grow, and succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1755727652625,"projectUrl":"project/harmonious-history-habitat/9436361/","projectTitle":"Harmonious History Habitat","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McDowell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10065253_orig.jpg?crop=471,471,x63,y28&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750999779268","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10065253"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2869","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":590,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":91,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":20,"percentWhite":40,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":2869,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Coats - Erwin Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Coats - Erwin Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/harnett-county-school-district/coats-erwin-middle-school/2869"}
