The donated headphones have made a tremendous impact in our students with exceptionalities who often feel intimidated when they recognize their reading and writing skills aren't at grade level. These headphones have become an essential tool that truly bridges learning gaps. Students can now use speech-to-text technology privately to write their thoughts, and they can listen back to their work to ensure it matches their intended message. This privacy allows them to build confidence and develop their skills without feeling self-conscious about others hearing their process. The headphones aren't just useful—they're transformative, giving our students the independence and dignity they deserve while learning to use assistive technology that will serve them throughout their educational journey. It is very intimidating to students who have never experienced real life work challenges. Your support to purchase very essential tools like the time clock and cash register, give students the greatest opportunity to learn hands-on skills. The impact these tools have on our students is amazing. Thank you for granting our students the chance to learn before entering the workforce. The art history textbooks have been very helpful. I used them to prep over the summer. Then, when our textbook order was delayed, I was able to use these texts with my students in two small groups. We switched textbooks between the small groups, so my students could gain exposure to the differences in textbook layout. The stickers and Sharpies were very helpful for my students in creating their cover sheets for their class binders. The selenite lamp supported my approach in utilizing different types of lighting in my classroom to create a more culturally responsive classroom environment. The biobags have enabled me to integrate conservation efforts in my classroom. Personally, I am very grateful for the tool kit. It was so challenging not having a tool kit last school year. My high school students are ALWAYS hungry! The snacks lasted for about two weeks. The paper shredder has been very helpful for my position and now I shred at school. The other item that was highly needed at the time this project was funded was the 3M poster strips. I included a photo of my classroom. Yes, I have A LOT of posters. I was finally able to finish hanging everything with the posters strips from this project, so THANK YOU. Every student was able to blow out birthday candles, which was awesome. My students love having a refrigerator and microwave!! My students stop by during lunch to make hot food. This option has given them the ability to pick comfortable seatings and has reduced restlessness and increased student engagement. The seating arrangement has students choose what seating suits their learning style and has helped them be focused and motivated. \r\n\r\nWhen I first had my class come in with the new tables and chairs, the class was excited and could not wait to be put into the new groupings. I did not have a grouping with the new tables so I asked for volunteers to move to the new group. I also had the new group formulate rules on how to handle the bouncy chairs and how to replace it if they did not want to use it. We came up with a designated area to park the bouncy balls, and they would get them or put them back in the designated area once done using them. I hope to add more tables in the future and again, thank you for your kindness with this project.","fullyFundedDate":1749777872062,"projectUrl":"project/lets-be-flexible/9404924/","projectTitle":"Let's Be Flexible","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Siozon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10052982_orig.png?crop=208,208,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749666334770","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10052982"},{"teacherId":5830911,"projectId":8515657,"letterContent":"The lego kits were a big hit with my students!! The gifted program at my district started a new partnership with ASU Prep Global this school year and my gifted students had to be registered into their selected courses, which occurred a few weeks after school started in August. During this time, my students worked in pairs and small groups to build the lego kits. Different sets of students worked on the kits during different class periods. This helped my students grow their collaborative skills and get to know each other. These kits are very complex and definitely engaged their critical thinking. The most impressive feat was watching my new high school students build the wonder of the world sets using only the photographs of the fully constructed sets to build them. I did this intentionally to see my students' giftedness for myself. The flying buttresses of Notre-Dame really were built in a way that they looked realistic.
