The colored paper helps them distinguish notes especially those about grammar concepts that we have just started to learn and practice..\r\n\r\nWhat's most valuable is seeing how these materials have increased student organizational skills and engagement. The stickers are great rewards for them. \r\n\r\nThe pens have been useful when marking up their passages during annotations for comprehension. The highlighters have also been useful in the bucket as a means to organize and use for vocabulary and identifying the main idea. We are currently writing extended metaphors using elements of nature. They also recognized how even in their own community they are aware of men that have joined the brotherhood. Learning about their accolades and life achievements was inspiring. This is much needed practice for higher grades so that they know how to create projects, save their work, and then present their work to their peers using the scanner and the smartboard.\r\n\r\nMultilingual and Struggling learners are especially empowered by this unit because they get to practice and present their own work in a safe and conducive environment.
