He is a newcomer immigrant student from Vietnam that is literate in Vietnamese and is learning English. With the IPad he is able to translate materials, look up key words, learn how to pronounce in English, and how to teach his classmates his first language! It is so much fun and provides such an engaging way for him to interact.\r\n\r\nThank you so very much for changing the course of the school year and these students' lives! We use the iPad in the classroom to track student progress in reading and basic literacy skills. These skills are essential for students to master to be able to access learning and knowledge independently. We do biweekly monitoring of different skills, and the iPad allows to do that efficiently.\r\n\r\nWe also now have a sound wall that students can reference to support them in learning spellings for different vowel sounds. These spellings can be particularly tricky in English with all its different word origins.
