  • Extra Extra Read All About New Books!

    Funded Aug 10, 2016

Thank you for your donations to my project Extra Extra Read All About New Books! My students were so excited when we received our new books!

This will be something that they enjoy all school year! They will use these books in the classroom to help with our classroom lessons.

They will also be able to check out the books to take them home to read them as well.

Reading is so important and with all of your donations it makes it a classroom priority!

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Woodworth

  • Flexible Furniture for Flexible Learners

    Funded Sep 21, 2016

My students absolutely LOVE the flexible furniture that you provided for them! When they saw the materials set up in the classroom for the first time they were excited and maybe a little confused. They thought it was just set up for a lesson.

I was able to get 6 yoga balls, pillow, and bean bags to make our classroom a more comfortable learning space. They enjoy these items for independent reading, working in small groups, and even taking assessments. I have found that they are more focused and attentive to what they are working on. Some of the furniture is set up as a small group/reading nook and some of it is spread around the room for independent time. My students definitely enjoy coming to small group with me since we aren't working at a boring old table. We are able to use the lap desks you provided for our work. It has provided for a more relaxed atmosphere in my classroom as a whole. I even have colleagues that come in and help themselves to cozy spot sometimes!

Thank you again for making this possible for my students!”

  • Broadening Minds and Hearts Through Reading

    Funded Aug 19, 2016

Please accept my humble apologies that this is so late! We have been busy bees in 6th grade this year! My students absolutely LOVED their novel studies this year. They got to pick their own book, so they felt like they had a choice in their own learning. Each week, they had reading assignments, and questions to answer. The best part about that was that we created our own blog entries were students could write and respond to one another, and interact with students from different classes who might be reading the same book as they were. At the end of the project, the students created news broadcasts based on their novels. Some chose to do an old-school newspaper, and others chose to create a video broadcast. All in all, the students learned so much and were so grateful for the books you helped to provide. I also had several requests to borrow different novels after the project was done, so that they could read them on their own for fun!”

  • First Grade Fun

    Funded Aug 25, 2016

Thank you so much for supporting my class. The light filters have an immediate calming effect when you walk in my room. Adults who visit almost always comment on them. My students who use the bouncy bands do so much better with the bands on their desk. They can wiggle on the band, pay attention better, and they don't disrupt other students with their fidgets. The text guides make an immediate difference with the students who need them. I teach an after school program and students always request to use them when I forget to get them out.”

  • 1st Grade Headphones to Save the Day!

    Funded Aug 25, 2016

I just wanted to take the time to thank you for the amazing Headphones that we received are. The students love that they can hear on all the Ipads. They love the wireless part of the headphones. It is also so amazing to have them smiling and playing games without dealing with headphones that don't work!

I have a few students who get extremely restless and the headphones are absolutely amazing for them! Last year I taught kindergarten at my school this year I am teaching first grade. The greatest thing about seeing these students with the head phones are the students I had last year being so happy to just have working headphones! I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and my students thank you to!”

  • Ready, Set, Write!

    Funded Aug 16, 2016

Because of your kindness, my students and I had a successful year of writing! My students were blown away by all of the supplies gifted to us, which means they took excellent care to use them wisely. Our pencil sharpener was their favorite thing ever - all the students loved how they no longer had to wear out their arms with our almost-always-near-broken wall sharpener. We were able to use the notebooks as journals for any ideas that came to mind, and use the pencils, highlighters, and erasers to further help our writing and editing skills. And boy, did we do A LOT of writing! My kids showed a huge growth in their writing ability, and they are now moving on to becoming well-written, successful 8th graders.”

    With gratitude,

  • Classroom Supplies

    Funded Jul 31, 2016

For two years now, my students have had the materials they needed to set up their notebooks for the year. They've been excited to have an array of materials to choose from, and that they didn't have to spend tons of money on a fancy notebook to stay organized.

Having general supplies, including pencils, a pencil sharpener, glue and tape, may seem like a no-brainer. To my students and I, however, it's a big deal! Without generous donations from the community, many of my students would go without. Thanks so much for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

  • Reading Around the World: Finding our Inner Reading Superpowers

    Funded Jul 31, 2016

Having book bins in my classroom has made Daily 5 time extremely efficient. My students are able to keep all of their materials in the same place, making transitioning from each Daily 5 activity effortless.

My students are extremely grateful to have these in our classroom. It allows them to stay organized, and since they each get their own, they can take ownership in keeping them organized.

My next steps in my classroom is making it more of an active learning space. I've been doing a lot of research on flexible seating. Having items like yoga balls, jellyfish seating, and other options not only help with posture, but also help some of those kiddos who need to wiggle a little more. I'm hoping by the end of the year to have a complete set of flexible seating for each student.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Field

  • Help to Continue the Chain of Kindness with Supplies

    Funded Aug 2, 2016

Your donations have made such an impact on my students. You have given them, access to thousands of online books, educational apps, and you have also taught them about kindness. Your donation made it possible to use our donated IPADS without fear of them breaking, and helping us charge them daily. I am also able to connect my TV to an IPAD to show educational clips, books, pictures, etc while teaching. When I tell my students the story of kindness of people giving to something they need, every single one of the smile. It has been a great teaching moment for them and for myself. Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Guglielmi

  • Building a Classroom Library

    Funded Aug 19, 2016

This is a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The books we received because of your contributions have helped my students learn and grow everyday since we received them. I work to build a love for reading in my class and the addition of these books helped boost interest tremendously.

My students work in reading stations every morning. Students are at each station 15-20 minutes. During that time, students in the library station have free choice of which books they are going to read. My lower students often bring me a book to show me a sight word they have recently learned and my higher students love to take AR tests which help them earn points towards a reading party. Without the addition of the "I Can Read" series, I am doubtful my class would be as excited about reading as they are now.

The book bins we received have also helped our reading groups become more organized and efficient which means we have additional time to focus on our reading skills. My class is divided into 6 reading groups based on ability. Each group is responsible for maintaining an organized book bin. The bins are home to leveled readers, bookmarks, pointers, stickers, slinkies to stretch out words, word activities and more!

Without donors like you, our hearts would not be as full as they are and our dreams could not shine as bright as they do.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Montgomery
