Health & Sports: Reddit Gifts for the Teachers 2016

My students are using the discs for after school disc golf club. You purchased us a variety of different discs that are all used for different purpose. They are practicing putting with the putters and driving with the mid-ranges and drivers. The kids are getting the opportunity to try out different discs to see what kind and weight work best for them.

My students were amazed when they saw the stacks of discs. They are eager and excited to come to disc golf practice every week and are extremely disappointed if practice has to get canceled for any reason.

Our first goal for the club is to take a field trip to a full course as a team. Our second goal is to play in junior tournaments. The kids ask every week, "when are going to play in a tournament?" I have to remind them that is too cold right now for tournaments and it will have to warm up first. Our third goal is to develop a lifelong love of disc golf and appreciation of the outdoors.

On behalf of the Lady Ravens soccer team, we thank you all so much for your kind donations. Having a brand new soccer bag and soccer balls is something that has been most helpful to our team. We use the equipment literally every time that we practice and have a game. The mini Nike balls are great for helping our goalie warm up and develop her skills. The boys team is slightly jealous of us because of our new stuff!

It also saves us a lot of time because we do not need to waste time pumping the soccer balls up. Prior to this, our soccer balls were at least 5 years old. We just used a mesh ball bag to store them in. The soccer bag is great, and as we found out during our first game, pretty good in the rain! The Under Armour soccer balls are amazing!

While my current team gets to enjoy this new equipment, I know that it will also be around in years to come for future teams to use. We all thank you so much for all that you do!”

The Immokalee boy's lacrosse team traveled to Orlando over Spring Break. During the trip, the team watched a college lacrosse game as UCF played LSU, volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and played lacrosse games against two local high schools (Sanford and Lake Howell). The Indians lacrosse team also visited Universal Studios Islands of Adventure.

During free time, the boys visited Deep South Lacrosse store. Deep South provided discounts on lacrosse equipment and apparel for the team. Players also swam in the pool, worked out in the hotel gym, and bonded as a team. The players are very thankful to the donors who made this trip possible.”

Thank you so much for your contributions to our project. The players got their uniforms earlier this week and they were beyond excited at how everything looks. Our first game isn't until next week so we don't have any game action pictures yet, but I will send some out as soon as we do.

We have the team vote on what the uniforms are going to look like, so the kids were super excited to see how everything fit together. "Gear day" is always very exciting to any team, so being able to provide them with top level stuff was very important to us.

Wish us luck as we continue to strive to establish a first class program that the school and community can be proud of. The team has put in a lot of work this off-season, both training and in the classroom. We are counting down the days until the first pitch, I hope to see you out at the field this spring cheering us on!”

It has been about a few weeks or so since we received our new shipment of new jerseys and I wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU!! What a difference having just a new jerseys makes. It has been very rewarding to see girls that work hard and appreciate some new jerseys. The older jerseys are still being put to use by our lower levels. These new jerseys have truly benefited girls that use them, it has trickled down to many levels. We wrote up many projects for other equipment and all of them were completed, that makes a huge impact on our program. We can now put our fundraising efforts directly to the players and their needs. Without your donations and thoughts, this project would have never been completed, thanks again from all of us to all of you. We appreciate your helping hand which helped up to a 20-8 season!!! This project allowed my students to get out and play! They have so much fun and are very thankful for the new equipment. They are learning to jump rope and absolutely love the balls and bean bags. The new equipment has also helped with behavior since they are getting the extra energy out during recess. We also had a lot of fun drawing and writing words on the ground with the chalk and chalk holders that were part of the project.

We are excited about the opportunists that this will afford us and the growth the players will have by using it. We hope to see all of you at a couple of our games this year. We will be putting the batting cage to great use, I will be a stalwart in our training regiment for as long as I am the coach here.
