This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most educators feel their classroom of students are the best and greatest. Although I can't argue with their opinions, I happen to think that I have the BEST AND GREATEST students on this planet. There isn't a day that I don't look forward to seeing their faces and seeing them develop in knowledge and wisdom before my eyes. I may be their teacher but they teach me so many lessons each day as well. Last school year I had the honor of being my students' third-grade literacy teacher. For the 2016-2017 school year, I was granted the gift of being their teacher again.

My students attend a Title l school located in the South Bronx in which 30% live in shelters.

Despite the obstacles they face on a daily basis, they are always eager to learn and never give up hope. As their teacher, I buy the majority of the materials they need to help them achieve their academic goals out of my own pocket because I want to provide them with the opportunities to learn and experience things they never imagined. I want to instill the joy that learning can bring regardless of the challenges within their own life.

My Project

Being that I teach a group of students that are mostly visual learners, a new document camera to replace the broken one we currently have would be truly beneficial into aiding them to see what I am teaching and provide them with opportunities to teach and model to their peers as well. With the usage of a document camera, my students will be able to hear and see as I am describing, discussing and/or providing evidence from a literature or historic text. A document camera is an excellent tool for my students to also be able to record and take pictures of their work to present to the class when conducting project base learning tasks and to save for later references as a resource in the classroom. Having a document camera in our classroom will allow us to interact with a variety of written and visual materials during the day which is important because it helps students to see the actual examples that are constantly being discussed but yet hard to visually see without representation.

Your donations will change how my students are learning in class, because we will move from being an inactive to an interactive class as we visually explore our thinking and understanding.

My students love to learn and enjoy being interactive with their learning, and a document camera will help us further our love of interactive learning! We really hope you decide to donate. As their method of learning deepens, so will their love of learning, which is priceless. Every dollar helps!
