This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year will start off a little different due to COVID-19. We don't know if we will continue with remote learning or return to the classroom. Either way, I always have unique ⁶scholars in my classroom every year. They come from different backgrounds, countries, home environments, different levels, stages and phases in life. One thing that they normally have in common is the desire to learn.

Some of my scholars face harsh challenges at home, they need support not just academically but socially and mentally.

Many come to school without the needed supplies or perhaps they come with the bare necessities, which isn't enough. I am happy that they come to school, even if they come unprepared.

As an educator, it's difficult to effectively teach remotely when I don't have working equipment or the needed necessities for the equipment, or the needed supplies or supplemental materials. If I could, I would ensure that my classroom had everything needed in order for my scholars to succeed. Unfortunately, that is a hard task for me to achieve on my own. I am looking to keep things simple and provide the needed materials for them to help transition into this new school year.

My Project

The document camera will help to enhance our lessons while we adapt to our "new norm" to the upcoming school year. We may not start the year off in the classroom together so this will be a great tool to ensure scholars are learning and to keep everyone actively engaged.

The document camera will be a great tool to use for remote learning because I can use different learning resources while teaching live.

There are so many things to do with a document camera, it will be as if my scholars are with me in the classroom learning the material in person. This document camera will help with classroom management, checking homework, reading aloud, and modeling exemplar scholar work. I know that implementing a document camera into lessons will keep my scholars' attention. It will also make my life easier.
