My Students

This year there have been all kinds of restrictions placed on spending in our district. Our district fully supports the needs of all of our students, but due to the dire economic times, cuts were necessary. Instead of complaining, I am doing everything I can to keep my class full of excitement!

I teach in a small, inner city, Title I school in South Carolina.

My students constantly rise above any adversity to meet state standard after state standard. My students are the most eager learners I have ever had. They are like sponges seeking to soak up every bit of info. I can give them. These science materials will send my students into orbit with excitement. They absolutely LOVE learning about the world, its animals, and where they live. They love to journal about their experiences in science. Through this proposal I plan to engage their inner scientists as well as develop their writing skills.

My Project

These resources will allow me to overcome any cuts in our zoo field trips by bringing the zoo directly to our classroom. The vivid, real-life images of animals will allow students to connect with the animals up close and personal right from the comfort of their seats. The habitat books, and animal classification books will be used used for partnered reading and discovery learning in science centers. The best part about this project is its continuity from year to year. This project will keep the zoo coming back to my room year after year regardless of the budget. It will allow me to grow and teach junior zoologists for years to come!!!

I am a passionate teacher who works above and beyond for my students.
