My Students

Dearest Donor,

International Day of Peace passed September 21!

As a class we had extensive conversations, art projects, and socio-emotional activities to promote peace in the classroom community. We discussed the idea of being a citizen and how to create peace not only in the classroom and school but also in the world.

My Project

The Zen Zone will be designed by students and used throughout the years as a place to safely talk about any socio-emotional issues. We plan on using the Zen Zone as a mini peace talk table in which children are welcomed to open their hearts and minds to creating possible solutions to problems within the classroom.

The Zen Zone will also create a safe space for young children.

I have a couple of students who've lost a loved one during the pandemic. As a teacher, I empathize with my second graders and hope to give them the space to heal from the horrible things they have faced at such a young age. Soft seating will feel like a much needed hug when things get rough. These bean bags are easy to disinfect and will be place socially distanced.

With your support my classroom will have a space to share, a space to work out feelings, and a space to feel comfort within the school community. The Zen Zone will allow my students to take a mental health break without being excluded from the learning that goes on in the classroom.
