Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My class consists of many students with special needs. To meet their varying learning needs and to help my students to cope with their emotions throughout the day, I have created an accessible safe space in the classroom for them to use whenever their emotions are out of control and they need to self-regulate.

Our Zen Den is a place that is calming, and relaxing for my students and it needs to be equipped with cozy chairs, squishies, and pop-it toys to help redirect fidgeting and control their emotions.

In this space, students need appropriate materials that they can use to express their feelings or to calm them down so that they are able to return to the class and participate in classroom activities.
