My Project

I teach high school senior English to International Baccalaureate Lang Lit HL and On-level students. Across all of those classes, I have quite a few students who are officially labeled EB (Emerging Bilingual or ESL) or whose home languages are other than English. I live in a very diverse city and my students speak many languages, but the most common is Spanish.

I am building up a classroom library for my students to read in class when they're done with their work or for borrowing outside of class and I would love to have a healthy Spanish language section for my sizeable Spanish-speaking students.

We read a lot of difficult texts like Beowulf which are difficult for native speakers and I'd love to give my bilingual (it's not uncommon for them to speak more than two languages) students deserve a chance to read something in their own language!
