Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A working mind is a learning mind and our minds never stop working in first grade.

My students are very bright and creative.

Many of them face the challenge of meeting grade level criteria while overcoming obstacles including learning disabilities and language deficiencies. They have a lot of energy and often need multiple ways to process and practice new information. As the teacher, I help make the connections across curriculum and content areas and I am continually thinking of new ways to present information that will stick in my students' working memories. They love to learn and explore and express their thoughts. They are playful and deserve the very best of materials in their learning environment.

My Project

These materials will allow my students to constantly be exercising their young minds. They will be able to find additional time to practice new concepts and will have the opportunity to see the same information presented in different ways. The books on CD will keep my students occupied during centers and will give inroads of access to stories they are not yet able to read themselves. The leapsters will help me demonstrate the message to my students that there is always an opportunity for them to learn and practice and refine their skills because, of course, we are never finished learning.

I work relentlessly to give my students the support they need to be successful and develop a love for learning.

These materials will add to the richness of our classroom and will support struggling students for years to come.
