My Students

Our 7th graders are brilliant & resilient! I witnessed their work ethic remotely throughout the pandemic and can't wait to have them back in the building this fall. This will be the first time many of them have been in a school building since elementary school. In an effort to welcome them back in a positive manner, our grade team is planning an incentive program complete with prizes to be purchased in our school store. Who doesn't love the chance to earn snacks, school supplies and (best loved of all) fidget toys!

My students respond well to incentives and I plan to use this project to set a positive tone for the year.

Each child in my classroom loves learning when it is presented to them in safe & joyful environment. While teachers across the 7th grade work to build culture in their classrooms, I will supplement with the opportunity for students to earn points for positive behaviors throughout class. This proactive approach to management is a great way to ensure we maximize learning time for scholars.

My Project

I can vividly remember my trips to the school store in grade school. Amassing points throughout the week and dreaming about what cool toy I could purchase each Friday. The 7th grade team at Baychester intends to bring that same joy to our students this school year.

Students will earn points during class for tasks such as participation, working silently during independent practice, and using content specific vocabulary.

They will then have the chance to spend their points each week in the school store.

In addition to adding an element of joy to the classroom, it will begin to teach our scholars about the value of currency, as well as spending weekly vs. saving for a larger item.
