I am a Special Education Teacher in New York. Each year, teachers are required to provide resources for their classroom in order to ensure student success in the classroom. The problem is, my school is located in a very low income area, with 95% of the children receiving free lunches, and so the teachers have to purchase all of our classroom resources with little help from the Department of Education. Most of the time, resources in my school are in limited supply, and I have to borrow from other teachers or share with them. We do not receive help from the community,or from the parents. My students and I need materials such as notebooks, pencils, writing papers, folders, scissors, glue, and books for our classroom library, among other classroom supplies. My students and I will appreciate these donations to ensure that we have a successful school year.
