My Students

They say cells are the building blocks of life... please help my students be able to see that cells aren't literally blocks as some actually think!

My students attend a public middle school in a low socioeconomic status urban community.

They have very little exposure to anything outside of their community. Many seem to live in their own urban neighborhood "bubble" and have a difficult time understanding and believing anything that they don't normally see in their neighborhood. When they are exposed to something new in my science class their faces light up like a kid on Christmas morning! This is why I would love to get these slides for them to see that all of these microscopic things do exist because to my students seeing is believing!

My Project

My students need Beginners Zoology, Hydra Budding, Basic Meiosis, Human Chronic Gran. Leukemia, Human Blood, Typical Animal and Plant Cell, and Onion Root Tip Mitosis prepared microscope slides that will show them that cells as well as microscopic organisms do actually exist even though they can't normally see them! I will be able to show them so many things! Students can discover the difference between plant and animal cells for themselves. They can also see all the parts of the cells and identify them. Also, they can look at different single celled organisms and other microscopic organisms. We can then learn how to measure things using the microscope, things that we normally can't even see! Which is a very important skill for my middle schoolers to learn! Who knows it may very possibly be a skill they need to know for their state tests!

Please donate!

Help my students see that just because they can't see it normally, it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist! Sadly many of my students rarely feel special. They are used to little and old beat up supplies in school. Honestly having something new in the classroom to help them learn will not only help them with their education but it will make my students feel very special that people were nice enough to go out of their way to help them! Thank you so much.
