One thing I love about teaching is the ability to incorporate your personality and interests into the profession. I love Star Wars. Although I am a late comer to the Star Wars universe, it doesn't matter. Star Wars transcends across generations. I hope to bring the Star Wars universe into our school.
I believe there's something special about our school, the students who attend it, and the staff that make it an unbelievable environment to learn and work in.
We're a small, early childhood school that believes firmly that a healthy and active body is essential for learning. Our school serves our students healthy and nutritious lunches and educate students on fitness and nutrition.
We also believe that a child's imagination should be encouraged. Walk around our school and students will show you where the Super heroes sleep, the door to the chamber of secrets, hidden treasures, and the gate that leads to the dragon's den.
The majority of our students come from families who immigrated to the United States to give their children the best opportunity to succeed. They value education very much and always want the best for their children and will work long hours to support their family. Our school is dedicated to providing the best learning environment for our students.
My Project
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...well actually on May the 4th in our school, a teacher thought of a great way to combine his interest with the school's philosophy on living an active lifestyle.
I'm hoping to create an after school enrichment class that would be inspired by the Jedi way. My padawans would embark on a journey to become Jedi Masters. They will train their bodies, improve their breathing, stretch, develop their reflexes, and conclude with a controlled light saber sparring.
The resources requested will help keep our students fit, active, and healthy. The light sabers will be used for them to practice light saber techniques, choreography, and sparring.
Our eager students will gravitate towards the sabers, but they will learn to be patient and use it responsibly.
This is the most unique project I've ever created, but I am passionate about it and fully believe this can and will work.
We will not try to succeed...try not. Do or do not, there is no try.
George Lucas said, "When I make my movies, I'm trying to educate and inspire young people to do more than they actually think they can do."
Star Wars has captured the imagination of many of our students.
This program will be a way to nurture it.
Please consider helping me inspire my younglings to do more. This project has the potential to go farther than the galaxy far, far away. I will make sure our students will not become one with the force during this time.
