Many children hate writing! My goal is to motivate children to become young authors. Having a functional writing center available to all students will motivate students to enjoy writing. A writing center will allow students time to work on their writing pieces as a whole class or individually. They will see a wonderful end result and take pride in their work. The writing center will include a bookbinding machine. My first two project ideas are... * A Family History Book - This goes along with our reading unit entitled Storytelling. Each student will gather information from their parents and other relatives. The information will be used to create personal family history books. * Creative Folktales - Each student will create and develop an original folktale including illustrations. Students may choose to write stories that explain something about nature such as why giraffes have long necks or how a leopard got its spots. I am excited to see the results of these writing projects as my students' love of writing increases throughout the school year.
