I am an art teacher in a low income under- performing school. I have been working with a group of 8th grade students that are applying to specialized fine arts high schools. This portfolio group is extremely talented. The group meets 3-4 times a week before and after school. The students in this class are studying architecture, animation, fine arts, and fashion design. The specialized art high schools these young students aspire to require a portfolio review day. While these students have artwork, they are unable to afford portfolios to carry their work. I am asking for help in purchasing these portfolios. In the past, some of my students have carried their work in makeshift portfolios made out of cardboard and twine. Since these auditions are open to all students in NYC they were embarrassed at their own method of presentation. These students work so very hard. They deserve to be able to present their portfolios in a manner that best represents their great talents. I would also like for them to have hardbound sketchbooks so that they could practice and sketch on a daily basis Thank you so much for your consideration.
