My Students

My students receive free hot breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Many of my students are English Language Learners. They come from households where English is a second language. At home, the English language is rarely spoken, making it challenging for my students to learn and practice the English language. My classroom also services students with disabilities such as children with autism, ADHD, and speech or language impairments. A classroom is a place for these children to feel safe and accepted.

That is my mission every day as a special education teacher.

My Project

My students need a drying rack for their art work and smocks to keep them clean. After they paint or create their masterpiece, their work is usually placed on a table top or near the window sill in hopes of it drying. Unfortunately, it doesn't always happen. Young students are often so excited and proud of their work, that they want to show it off right away.

With the addition of this drying rack, their art work will have a safe place, away from little hands, to dry.

The drying rack will also be a good way to organize their work. Young students are encouraged to use art to express themselves and this drying rack and smocks will be a way to preserve their masterpieces and their clothes!
