Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year, I will be teaching fourth grade. Our district is very diverse, and approximately 60% of our students are English language learners.

Our students come from a wide range of different socioeconomic backgrounds.

Over 60% of our students receive a free lunch. Our school also has a wide range of academic levels. Our school supports this wide range with programs like our Response to Intervention (RTI) Reading Program. Teachers regularly meet to look at student learning, analyze assessments, and examine our practice.

I am inspired every day by the young people we serve. Many of our students face adversity in their lives, yet they come to school eager to learn each day. Our families come from diverse backgrounds and come together to support and celebrate these kids. This year, more than ever, we are having to find ways to connect with families and support our learners.

My Project

My creative students need artist supplies. I used to teach just art before becoming a general education teacher. I love the arts and getting students into creative expression. I also love teaching technique.

My students need the basic supplies to be painters!

Our paintbrushes have seen lots of art projects, and we need some new ones to continue making beautiful art. It is time for a new set that will be loved for years to come.

We also need watercolor paper. When really teaching students how to paint and use technique we need a quality paper. Our school does supply construction paper but this is not adequate for water color painting. Construction paper will get soggy and even break apart with water.

Also in this project are craft supplies so students can create their own snow globes with a photo of them inside it. To represent who they are, they will also add small items into their globes.

Finally, in the grant we need some basic supplies like paper, pencils, folders, and a new stapler!

This isn't the most complex or glamorous project. But we will create complex and glamorous art! Thank you for considering a donation.
