My Project

I have the best group of students. They have lovely personalities and are eager to learn. I want to give them more young adult novels they can relate to and enjoy. I want to provide them with books that will spark a love for reading, with books that they will not be able to put down. All of the books are national bestsellers that I know they will enjoy. Incorporating YA literature into a curriculum allows students to experience the joy of reading by breaking down the barriers students often encounter in traditional works, including characters, periods, and subject matter that are foreign to them. Integrating such works into the curriculum increases “life literacy” by helping adolescents develop the reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills they need to succeed in school and increase their capacity.
