My Project

Literacy encompasses a number of skills and writing is one. As the ninth graders embark on their high school journey I will implement daily journal prompts to generate a culture of writing that will aid students in developing their voice as writers. They will have lots of of practice tapping into their internal selves; writing what they know, think, feel, experience, etc. I believe that developing this writing culture will set a solid foundation for the remainder of their high school journey.

It's also important for students to feel like they've accomplished something.

These journals are only 48 pages and unlike other notebooks each page will be filled with their writing. They can feel good about filling up each page and look back on these reflections years later and see how their thinking has evolved.
