My Students

With grins and greetings, my students enter the class each day wondering what the school day holds for them.

Of course, the plan for each day includes growth - academically and behaviorally.

Along with a growth mindset, we also learn all about how nutrition can make us strong - inside and out.

Daily I watch these smart kids eat junk food - for breakfast and lunch. My goal is to get students "into the dirt". They quickly learn that planting shrubs that attract pollinators, pulling weeds that encroach upon our edibles, and tilling the soil in our raised beds, can make a positive impact on the environment of our school, the pollinators, and themselves!

My Project

Typically, when people think of science, they don't think of gardens. But, as we know, science is everywhere in our natural world.

My goal is to teach my students how to successfully grow plants that help our environment.

We will grow plants that attract pollinators to help support our bees. We will get rid of weeds without hurting the natural chemistry of the soil. We will till the raised beds with a natural compost so that the seeds placed in the soil will grow into natural, healthy, and delicious food.
