Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My First Grade students are creative, funny, talented, and they all have a heart of Gold. The majority of my students are children of immigrant parents. Parents lack limited education and can not help their children with their school work. Over 95% my school population is on free or reduced lunch. I teach two First grade classrooms full of energetic 6 year old students, at a Title I school. Every day my students face several challenges in and out of the classroom. Yet, despite these challenges, they love learning and helping each other grow. Their jokes always make my day.

Students love to create various products as an unique way to express themselves and/or show their learning in a different medium.

Each of my students strives to be the best they can be. My students have wide-ranging abilities, learning styles, reading levels, and English proficiency. They work hard and are always eager to learn. My students miss seeing each other and playing together during recess. They get so excited to see each other on Zoom! When one of them doesn't show up to Zoom, they wonder why their classmate was absent.

My Project

Creativity will know no bounds. Engaging my students, the creativity of Circuit will enhance pride in our work and play. Having a Cricut in my classroom will be able to bring my students' creativity to life. We often have collaborative projects, where they can create their own Math counters or Science dioramas. Being able to do this with a Cricut will give my students an opportunity to make their own designs with the use of technology. Although now that is a bit difficult to do, but with the school year coming to an end and not being able to spend it together physically, I would love to send little mementos by snail mail. I will be able to bring the designs they created before long distance learning to life with the Cricut machine.
