My Students

My students are so excited to be in school and have hands-on STEAM experiences in our Innovation Lab. We will delve into 3D printing, robotics, and programming, as well as many other hands-on projects. It is so fun to watch their faces light up when they see the results of their own creations.

The students are curious and creative, imaginative, and innovative.

I love hearing their new ideas. We are a diverse school with many cultures and languages, and STEAM experiences are great at bringing everyone together for a common goal.

My Project

As a female engineer, I understand what it's like to not fit in. My goal since becoming a STEM instructor is to demonstrate that STEM has a place for everyone by introducing the students to a wide ride of STEM projects. My project is inspired by the IF/THEN winning project "If We Build Up Girls, Then We All Become STEMinists".

To help students understand the role of imagination and creativity in STEM, we will learn about IF/THEN ambassadors Ana Maria Porras, Beata Mierzwa & Yamilee Toussant Beach.

These ambassadors will help students make the connection between art and technology.

Students will channel their inner innovator and artist to create custom light-up paper circuits using the copper tape, LEDs, and coin batteries. They will also decorate face masks to show their unique personalities.
