Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from low-income families. They are always full of joy and willing to learn. My kids create the classroom community into something warm, inviting, and exciting. Unfortunately though, most of them do not have enough money to buy school supplies, much more a graphing calculator.

My students take care of each other.

If I am busy with another student, my students will reach out to help a peer and share his or her own basic scientific calculator. My students are also the best at helping each other refocus if there is ever a distraction. My students own and respect their learning and their learning environment. Overall, my students are simply the best.

The current graphing calculators in my class are used daily. The students in my classes take turns in using the 5 calculators that I personally bought. They have been utilized for so long that 1 calculator is not fully functional anymore and 2 calculators do not have battery covers anymore.

My goal is for all my kids to get the opportunity to use a graphing calculator to assist them in mastering the state standards and being successful in further mathematics courses and ultimately pursuing higher education at the collegiate level or pursuing a career with skills needed to be successful. Calculators greatly minimize the learning gap of our students experiencing mathematical deficiencies and enable them to participate and engage in on level course material.
