My Project

Gifted students need a creative outlet, and this project will offer them the opportunity to create their own roller coaster. My students are middle school gifted students at a Title I school. These roller coaster kits will help them collaborate with a team and use critical thinking skills to make a decision about the best design for their roller coaster. After they agree on a design, the students will complete the build of the roller coaster and test it for its functionality.

Students often seek opportunities to work with their hands as a means to test and apply their skills in a practical setting.

This roller coaster project will provide the opportunity for my gifted students to calculate, collaborate, and execute their design to see if it is a viable structure. Students will be meeting goals in creativity as well as design and engineering for this wonderful hands-on project.
