My Project

My middle school science classroom has a "Scientists to Know" section where I feature scientists of a variety of backgrounds for students to learn about. In the middle is a spot for photos of students to show them that they are scientists too.

This instant camera, color photo paper, and file folders will allow me to quickly update the wall with photos of students in action.

We are all born scientists. Help me show my students the limitless opportunities that their future can hold if they believe in themselves and see their immense potential.

The vast majority of my students are Black and Hispanic, and it's rare for them to see themselves as scientists when society always portrays scientists as nerdy white men. Representation is important for students so they can see the opportunities that exist in the world for them.
