Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I truly love my students because despite challenges, they still strive to do their best every day. However, we need your help! Our classroom includes exceptional learners who benefit from breaks to be able to complete tasks. I would like to complete our cool down corner to help support students from my classroom who need breaks and additional support. I will also be utilizing the yoga mats, meditation pads and chime for completing our Meditation Room and to be able to offer a Mindfulness Club. Self-regulation is a critical skill for all children, but it can be particularly challenging for children with special needs. Developing this ability helps children manage their emotions, behavior, and attention—a crucial aspect of their social, emotional, and cognitive development. This project is tailored for all learners, particularly exceptional learners. It will allow an outlet for them to regulate their emotions.

My goal for this project is to develop a cool down corner in the classroom.

Also, I would like to help complete our shared meditation room for all students who need to practice calming techniques throughout the day. In addition, my goal is to help create a space where students can learn self regulation skills to prepare them for challenging tasks in schools, on state exams and overall life experiences. Our students truly need the tools and support to help them function through school and outside of school. Students who attend mindfulness club meetings will be invited to learn and practice meditation, mindfulness, self regulation, yoga and sensory exercises to develop their social emotional skills and then teach what they’ve learned to their classmates.

Please help fund this project and help support our students in need! It would be a great honor to be able to serve our school community with these services and spaces.
