My Students

My school services children Pre-K through 8 in West Philadelphia! The students are intelligent, committed, strong-willed, and ready to preserve through the many challenges they face.

As teachers in a high needs school, we understand that our students face challenges inside and outside the classroom.

With this in mind, we would like to provide them with the tools they need in order to express emotions in a positive way. Providing our school with yoga mats will help us accomplish this!

My Project

There are many benefits of practicing yoga in an educational setting. An overwhelming amount of research has shown that children who practice yoga generally engage in more exercise, choose healthier foods to eat, learn more easily, have better social skills, and are just happier than those who refrain.

Yoga teaches students listening skills, enhances focus and concentration, improves motor skills and balance, encourages community in the classroom, help students learn to be in the present moment, expands creativity, and improves ability of mindful thoughts and actions.

Providing our students with these skills will be vital in establishing a positive learning culture at our school.
