Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are diversity. They are as unique and proud as the community that surrounds them. However, with this diversity comes varying needs, interests and opportunities.

The world is literally at their fingertips.

Yet, so many lack the opportunity to seek out the diversity of their community. Funding for this project will help bring equality to students and a larger high school that is continually seek out ways to connect students with a path towards success.

Help make our small community a better place by providing an opportunity that my students would not otherwise have.

My Project

My students come from all over the five boroughs of New York City and represent a diverse cross-section of New York City. Most have one thing in common. They all love sports.

However, not all have equal access.

These yoga mats and tools will be accessible to students through our student led Core Values program. The benefit is twofold. Students will have access to the sporting goods they need to live active and healthy lives. They will also learn valuable character traits to be mentally healthy for an active and happy life.

Students come into high school with diverse needs as high achieving scholars, English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities. Within four years they graduate as citizens empowered by the core values of grit, growth, commitment, and empathy. Their classroom studies emphasize the academic core values of Collaboration, Evaluation and Reason. My students are empowered by your support and the support of the community to become difference makers and future leaders.

This project was inspired by our students who lead a project to create a school store celebrating our Core Values. This student lead idea transformed into a school wide initiative. Student success is celebrated as students collect “Core Values” for demonstrating one of our core values of grit, growth, commitment, and empathy, or a core academic practice of collaboration, evaluation and reason. By celebrating these core values and practices we cultivate the best in our students.
