My Students

My children come from a diverse backgrounds, therefore they are learning the English language. I also have children who require special services. The children are full of energy and are eager to learn and interact on a daily basis using classroom materials and their bodies to make sense of the world around them; while developing kinesthetic compentencies. The children love music and movement activities as well as calming soothing activities. The children also enjoy dramatic movement activities licked to literacy.

My Project

It will allow the children to learn how to use all of their muscles in new ways. It will help my students with special needs to develop focus and concentration.

The children love following along to the thematic videos and learning new things.

With these mats,​ the children will have their own special yoga spot in the classroom and won’t have to sit on cooled hard floors since that is what my classroom floor made of.

With having their own yoga mats it will give the children responsibility, something that they have to be in charge of. It also teaches them to stay in their own personal space. I love teaching yoga in the classroom because it also provides them with many wonderful other gross motor skills such as coordination, balance and body awareness. Adding yoga mats in my classroom will allow the activity to run a little bit smoother as well because they can be set up in a specific location and will reduce the amount of movement the students have.
