Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The first graders that I teach are amazing! The are growing and learning along with other students in a "small school with a big heart", located in an urban, high poverty community. Despite the challenges that many of our students face, they never cease to amaze their teachers.

These students are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners.

They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers, veterinarians, and more! They are our future and we want to give them a great start on their unique journey to a successful future.

My Project

Whole Brain Teaching is a philosophy that I have been researching through reading books and watching various online videos expert Whole Brain teachers in their classrooms, in order to teach myself of this method and to incorporate Whole Brain Teaching in my own first grade classroom.

Whole Brain Teaching is a philosophy of teaching that teaches with the brain in mind, incorporating movement, chants, and fun games to keep students actively engaged in learning, to maximize instructional time, and to teach the value of working together!

My students, as well as the teachers in my school, would benefit greatly if I could attend the 2017 Whole Brain Teaching Conference to get formally trained. I would bring my new found knowledge back to my students as I implement more components of this teaching method and with more confidence and fidelity. I would also share my training with my colleagues, so that they can understand the benefits of this teaching method and, hopefully, incorporate it into their own classrooms.

My ultimate goal is to positively effect all classrooms within my school by becoming well versed in this amazing teaching method. Please help me become an expert in Whole Brain Teaching!
